Adventure Cove Waterpark @ RWS

After much obstacles, e.g. colds, coughs, fevers bringing down the whole family for the past month and rainy weather too, we finally made it to Adventure Cove. Still the weather looks dark this morning and it was drizzling when we made our way there.

Entry was free, we had four free tickets from the complimentary RWS membership from Stanchart. Only used 2 today, which means we still can have another go for free :)

A and B weren't too keen on the water. I guess they just had to go a few more times to get used to it. We stayed for about an hour before there was a lightning alert and we decided to call it a day.

Sibling Spats

Siblings spats are common at my home, but today's was a little different from the usual hit-and-run or grab-n-run cases.

Today, the kids somehow got agitated by what each other did and took turns to shout angrily at each other! They usually do not express their anger in that way...

B took A's drawing board and A was so angry that he shouted at her on and on in one breath. He only simmer down after the board was returned to him.

Shortly after, A threw the sofa cushions on the floor and B was so irritated that she clenched her teeth and fist and shouted non stop at him. She only calmed down after the cushions were back in place.

Hmm... I wonder what caused them to be so easily agitated today? Fortunately, it didn't take too long before they were back to their usual cheery selves. :)

Quite a lot of dialogues and twists in this movie... it only got me interested in the middle when all was linked up. Not a bad movie, nice closing. :)

Next to the Ocean

The closest as one could get to the ocean ... the RWS Ocean Suites. The moment I saw the offer for RWS Invites member at $1288 nett, I knew we had to grab it :) It comes with spa and breakfast for two but we skipped the spa as we couldn't leave A & B alone. During check-in, the lady kept encouraging us to try the spa, sounded good ... oh well ... 24-hr butler and buggy service were included with the stay too.

The bed facing the aquarium. Wifi reception at this level was bad though.

The upper level with outdoor jacuzzi. There is also an additional bathroom there.

The kids had so much fun up and down this flight of stairs.

Complimentary fruits from RWS Invites. A and B were so excited over the grapes!

This was a pleasant surprise and matched the ocean theme definitely.

View from the bedroom. It's actually the viewing gallery on the opposite end. We could vaguely make out the silhouettes of the visitors and the occasional camera flash. We were told they may also make out our forms if we stand right next to the viewing window. That's why, when the blind was drawn up, the lights in the room were automatically dimmed.

Dinner was at Starz Restaurant, Hard Rock Hotel.

20130901-204-EM5

The on-call buggy service to bring us around.

The area in front of the bed could be opened up to reveal a bathtub for a soak. Bath salts from ESPA was provided. For us, it was the kids that enjoyed it.

We really loved the stay. It's so different staying right next to the fishes, compared to other hotels.

Happy 48th Birthday, Singapore!

A photo we took yesterday after our leisure coffee and cake time at Bishan CC just before dinner. The background was this year's NDP theme - many stories... one Singapore.

No More Bin Bin

It's now the seventh month. I called the town council a week ago in the hope to remove before all the burning started the incense bin that was found directly below the unit we are staying now... however, I was disappointed that the bin reappeared again and again each time it was moved!

Today was the 6th time I called the town council... I just had to try my luck as the incense burning was making me very uncomfortable. Thank God they were opened even on public holiday (Hari Raya Puasa) today!

I made it very clear that I wanted the bin removed totally. If not, move to the next block where I found that there were still room for it. It was totally nonsensical to have 6 bins under my block when the next block only have 3!!! It was also dumb of the mover to shift the bin to the nearest bin and place it side by side to that bin! We wonder who was the one who always move the bin back? The singaporeans that I know of wouldn't do that!

Well, I think it was sheer luck that we ran into the man who was assigned to move the bin at the lift when we were going out. He made the same move again, i.e. right next to the nearest bin, the most convenient location! Great! I told him exactly what I wanted him to do! When we were back, the bin was not found again! I realised later that he had moved it next to the next nearest bin! I certainly hope that the bin would not come back to haunt me again!

I told my kids all about it. B knew already as she saw the burning fire in the bin before she slept last night. I explained to A about it and how the ashes made the home dirty. They heard me call the town council, they saw me talk to the mover. When they saw the man move the bin away and when we were back, they exclaimed, "No more bin bin!". B also learnt and kept saying "Fire hot hot"... :)

[21 Aug 2013: The bin came back yesterday! Arghhh! I had enough of the smoke. It didn't help that I'm having sore throat now! I wish I could hammer a notice to prevent anyone from moving the bin back!]

P1 Registration

It caught our attention that the primary school that we wanted to put A in was so popular that by phase 2B for this year's P1registration, there were only 7-8 places left! It's crazily alarming!

Our hopes were quite dashed and we decided that it was not going to work! The chances of getting in were too slim! Now, the question was, which school then? And, should we go for a co-ed school?

We did some research into some schools nearby and was monitoring this year's P1 registration very closely. I was thinking of starting parental volunteering (PV) but alas! The school that I called wouldn't even accept PV! "The volunteers of existing students were sufficient for the school", they said! I guess as parents, you would do anything to get your children to good schools but how far would you go? We were considering, since PV was not an option, how about moving near to the school for a better chance? Worst case, go back to our alma mater... Well, we'll have to see the results of 2C to decide...

Botak Head

FIL did it again! In his free time, he brought A to the barber and cut his hair too short, again!

I wasn't as emotional this time, even though I still think he looks much better with longer hair... Hair could grow back, there's no point kicking up fusses because of this. And, it didn't look as bad as the last time, maybe because his birthday was over? or, because I had seen him in this hairstyle before and hence I wasn't as shocked? I wasn't sure which...

A, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy his new haircut. He kept touching his prickly hair at the back of his head. It was much later that I heard from DC that A refused to bathe when our maid laughed at him... So, I was wrong, he didn't like it as well, haha...
