12th Wedding Anniversary

Seems like we've been married for a long time, 12 years!

This year's anniversary falls on the Sunday and it's during the Chinese New Year period. How rare!

We've booked a hotel room to stay last week as a pre-celebration as well as to spend the CNY holiday with the Chewzies. There was a gift from the hotel for DC and me for our anniversary, how sweet! :)

The photo taken at the hotel room... I love the smiles on our face. :) May we have many such moments together in future!

Happy 12th Wedding Anniversary!

Happy 11th Wedding Anniversary Man!

Lately, my colleague has been asking us (who were all married) and updating us on the preparations for her upcoming wedding such as Guo Da Li, ROM venue, wedding dinner, and also home searching.

Wow, all these customs sounded like they happened a long time ago and I couldn't remember some of them clearly anymore! Fortunately, I had the blog where I detailed some of the things down.

Thanks to her, I'm enjoying the little recaps of the wedding preparation here and there, now and then. :)

And just last night, she asked us where her parents should be sitting during her wedding dinner. Both DC and I were certain that my parents sat with us that night. It was after I flipped through the actual day wedding photos stored in the computer, that I realized we were both wrong!

So much memories these photos had brought! So much work, effort and love had gone into the preparation for the actual day but now we don't even celebrate the wedding anniversary anymore?

So I say to myself, we must make it a point to remember this significant day and celebrate the day we became man and wife! And, I will rely the same message to DC too!

Happy 11th Wedding Anniversary, my Man!

Here's a photo that will definitely bring you fond memories of the day we met, the day you put on the ring on me and the day we wed!

V-Day Collages

I'm recently a little active in IG (new pastime!).

Posted some collages this Valentine's Day in IG, here they are... Hope you have a good one! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!
Maybe you can't see it... both DC and I were in pink in this pic. :)

ART - You can't spell HEART without ART!
Can you see the hearts in the picture above?

Life's better in PINK!
Pink - the color of Valentine's Day. All the Pinks that I saw in a week!

Returned!

Returned to the art show the next day!

Not because I missed the art there, not because I wanted to buy any of the art there but because I thought I lost my cardholder there!

The organizer was very nice to hand me a return pass, however it was quite a frantic experience, trying to search for something that I didn't know where I've dropped!

And my feelings then was like this! Lol!

I also made my way to the conference and exhibition security counter to report my lost and found item. I didn't understand why the procedure was made so difficult just to report a lost item and was terribly annoyed by the poor customer service the security officers had over there! The customer service hotline and the mall security was much better!

On the way there, I cancelled my credit card... the new card will be sent to me in 3-5 working days.

It was only when I reached home that I found it! Still in my bag! Wonder why DC and I failed to find it in the first and second place! haha...

I tried to cancel the request for the new card, but was told it couldn't be done... Now I had to wait for the new card to come, and re-apply for ezlink topup. Quite a lot of work because of blunder!

Invited To At An Art Show

Gunthers gave me a complimentary ticket for 2 for an art show the other day. Actually we had not planned to be there but coincidentally found ourselves around the area!

Sensing that we still had some time, we decided to pop by the exhibition hall for a tour. What's more, there's complimentary drinks there!

Much to DC's amusement, the gallery wasn't boring at all, he found some of the art pieces interesting. :) There were photography exhibits too!

Much to my satisfaction, we managed to cover quite a lot of art pieces in that limited time we had!

Bonus was the free cocktail that was served!

Quite an eye opener this quick little tour, nice experience!

The significant other's birthday

I decided for tried and tested. Also, the set lunches here were too good to miss ... $38++ for a 3 course set lunch, coffee included! So for CP's birthday, we decided to celebrate the occasion back at Gunther's.

Today, we indulged a little. Ordered wine off the menu ... a very fruity red from France, 2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos St. Jean. Priced at $35++, I doubt we will always order such. Anyway, I read later that the best vintages are 2016, 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2003. (Read more at: http://www.thewinecellarinsider.com/rhone-wines-cote-rotie-hermitage-chateauneuf-du-pape/chateauneuf-du-pape-wine-producer-profiles/clos-saint-jean-chateauneuf-du-pape-rhone-wine/). Probably best to drink at home or order house wines.

We have also come to order (carefully) from the tray for some of the more "exotic" options. Today, I had the conch, roasted with garlic and butter. $55++ for this. Good, fragrant and "crunchy". I dipped the bread into the butter sauce to slurp up every last bit.

Conch

CP had two Irish oysters. $12++ each.

Irish osyters

Of course, their signature cold angel hair pasta with oscietra caviar is a must. A $60 portion is good for two people to share but I relish finishing it all on my own!

Cold Angel hair pasta, Oscietra caviar

Foie Gras from the set lunch menu. Did get a bit rich towards the end.

Smoked Foie Gras, apple compote

Beetroot salad for CP, also from set menu. Slight tinge of sourness, I find it quite good, what's with all the heavy stuff coming up.

Braised beetroot, salad, orange dressing

For mains, I had meat. Grilled smoked pork belly.

Grilled smoked pork belly, forestiere

CP had black ink rice, sautéed squid.

Birthday celebration for CP.

Pana cotta for dessert, also from set menu.

Coffee and petit fours to finish off.

It was indeed an enjoyable lunch. Cheers to many more :)

Anniversary at Andre

There was always a hype with Andre. We first tried his creations at Jaan back in 2009. Quite impressed, especially with the Snickers dessert.

For our wedding ROM anniversary this year, we decided to give it a try. I had to make reservations about 3 weeks earlier to secure a booking for lunch. There is also a deposit to confirm that reservation. The 5 course set menu is priced at $198++.

Semi-hidden entrance to Andre. Valet parking is available for $8. I would have preferred it to be complimentary, like what Gunther's provided. It's a rather small and cosy place. Probably about 10 tables or so.

Seafood tamara with gluten bun

I don't even know where to start? Do you even eat the leaves?

Abalone, liver, cripsy kombu, fish n chips

I can only say each portion is delicately small. I probably give a thumbs up to the presentation and the thought that went into each dish.

Dry aged scallop, textures of mushroom and toufu

Oyster tartare, pork broth

I quite like this. The butternut squash is crunchy and goes well with the beef tongue and sauce. Slurped it all up.
Burnt beef tongue salad, ruban of butternut squash.
Baked chicken breast in bread. This made the chicken meat very tender, unlike the normal expectation of breast meat.
Salt baked poulet

Something special for the occasion.

Seems more like a snack ...
Milk skin, buttermilk curd

A music box to go with dessert but it's meaning is lost on me ...

Honey ice-cream on raspberry ice.

Not a very well-done latte art. $10++, not worth.

Petit Fours

With the chef himself. It's really good that he came out to meet the clients. It's always good to see the face behind the fine food.

Boo!

Happy Halloween 2014!

It was so coincidental that A's room light was faulty since a few days ago... good to create some "spookiness" in darkness!

I switched on the night lights and placed the kiddos close to the lights. I took the chance to introduce Halloween to them, a holiday widely celebrated in the west... we also had treats, but no tricks...

They had fun with the lights. Kids are kids... no matter how you get them to pose, they will look cute, innocent and photogenic. More angels than devils I say! :)

This was THE SHOW, both DC and I thought as we were watching it in the cinema! The recent 2 movies we've watched were letdowns and this one brought us excitement and anticipation. Not a bad one to spend our dating anniversary!

The plot or scenes made you think of the Hunger Games movie series -- victims forced to be in an unknown land with traps, constantly fighting for survival, etc.

We liked this and will be watching the second installment. :)
