A's birthday celebration was just over. All of us, including A, was exhausted! Nevertheless, we (esp A) enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! :)
The Theme: Thomas The Train
It was all along Cars theme (as A loves cars very much) until DC decided that Thomas the Train was to be the theme for this year. I was fine with this as the Cars theme seemed to be used by his older cousins already for their past birthday celebrations. Thomas sounds like a great idea as no one has used that before!
The Venue: Hort Park
This year the celebration was held in the Hort Park. The place was quite remote as a lot of our relatives from the older generation did not know the place and we had to post a map of the Hort Park with the directions. I had a family of relatives who even lost their way on the actual day and couldn't make it. What a pity! The place was a heaven with greeneries and scenery, very nice for photo shoots and strolls! We love the venue!
I designed and put up a signboard to tell my guests the location of the MPH.
The Food: Orange Grove
There was a list of caterers that the Hort Park approved and that we must get our buffet from. The choice was clear for us as there was only one that we tried and tested - Orange Grove, under the group of Neo Garden. Due to the restriction from Hort Park, DC had a hard time requesting and negotiating for menu items from Neo Garden to be used in Orange Grove's menu.
The Invitation:
Like last year, we invited most of the younger generation of our guests through the Facebook event page. The older generation were invited through phone calls or our parents. I had a QR code and barcode added in the invitation card too, for those who are interested to decode the message within. :)
The Party Favors:
This was easy compared to last year as there were ready gift packs sold every where. I chose a reusable cup and use that to contain the goodies in. The goodies were: a box of chocolate sticks (yummy!), a puzzle twister, a maze, a sticker and a wristband that says "Full Steam Ahead". I bought plastic wrapper and colored paper to gift wrap them.
The Decoration:
Unfortunately, no decorations was allowed in the venues of Hort Park. I had to engage a balloonist to do up a balloon arch for us. There were many SMS exchanges on the design of the arch. I was unsatisfied with the original design and just had to re-designe it myself. We found the end result satisfactory although I hoped she had used a darker pearl blue instead.
The Entertainment:
DC rented two toys for the kids to play with. A Thomas train and a play slide. They were hot favorites during the celebration. A particularly loves them! I was pleasantly surprised that A wanted to sit on the train. I thought he would have rejected it like he did to a lot of battery kiddy rides! :)
There were also montages of A displayed on the two overhead TVs to entertain the adults. We decided not to project the images to the projector as the images were blocked and shadowed by the balloon arch.
The Birthday Cake:
We were never sick of cakes from Pola. The Thomas cake was sponsored by my sis again this year (Thanks!).
We bought a Number "3" candle for A to blow.
The Presents:
A had a great time tearing open the presents. He received great presents which he loved very much! Thanks for the great presents! :)
