I ♥ TVB Dramas

Love the police, lawyer and period dramas by TVB! :) These are the ones I've watched recently:

1. 法证先锋III/ Forensic Heroes III (HK)

Episodes: 30
Genre: Police, Forensic
Casts: Wayne Lai, Maggie Cheung Ho-yee, Kate Tsui, Ron Ng, Aimee Chan, Edwin Siu, Nancy Wu, Ruco Chan
Synopsis: Senior Forensic Chemist Jack "Pro Sir" Po (Wayne Lai) is the head of the Forensic Department and is skilled at analysing criminal psychology. He has a unique view on human nature and is familiar with the structure of various firearms. Pro Sir works closely with Senior Pathologist Mandy Chung (Maggie Cheung Ho-yee) in a wide range of fields including psychology, anthropology, criminology and forensic science.
CID Senior Inspector Ada Ling (Kate Tsui) and Sergeant "Wind" Lee Chin-fung (Ron Ng) work together cracking many murder cases. Their relationship goes from good friends 'brothers' to a pair of lovers.
With a backbone of 12 cases, the forensic scientists, forensic doctors and the police all work together to accommodate each other to solve these cases. The perspective in this third installment is much wider than the previous two seasons with a legal standpoint in addition to the forensics.
Review: Excellent show! I've been following the whole series faithfully, it never disappoints although the casts this season has changed! ♥ Love!

2. 真相/ The Other Truth (HK)

Episodes: 25
Genre: Lawyer
Casts: Tavia Yeung, Raymond Wong, Ruco Chan, Louis Yuen, Natalie Tong, Lai Lok-yi
Synopsis: Does every verdict reveal the truth? Watch the court room drama unfold as a group of very individual attorneys are brought together in complex legal proceedings and each lawyer reveals their own story.
Barrister Keith Lau's (Ruco Chan) ambition knows no limits. He will do everything he can in order to win a case, even if it means putting himself at risk.
His good friend Wallace Cheuk (Raymond Wong) runs a law firm. Although Wallace is a qualified barrister, he has no court experience, until Mavis Hong (Tavia Yeung) joins his firm. Thereafter, Wallace's debut meets with loud acclaim.
Their good friend James Wai (Louis Yuen) is a down-on-his-luck lawyer who is financially dependent on his mother: but when a thorny case comes his way, it looks as if his luck has finally changed.
Review: A slightly different lawyer show, with many cases (some really exciting) and dedicated lawyers who went all their way to find the truth. Worth the watch. It's speculated that there will be a second season released in 2012, I'm waiting for it!

3. 紫禁驚雷/ The Life and Times of a Sentinel (HK)

Episodes: 25
Genre: Historical Drama
Casts: Steven Ma, Kenneth Ma, Sunny Chan, Power Chan, Selena Li, Natalie Tong, Elaine Yiu, Evergreen Mak, Ching Hor-wai
Synopsis: The sudden death of the young Shun-chi Emperor (Shunzhi) shocked the whole empire. The second prince Fuk-tsuen, was originally the successor for the throne, but Empress Dowager Hao-chong (Xiaozhuang) changed the successor to the third prince Yuen-yip, who subsequently becomes the Hong-hei Emperor (Kangxi). Angry with this, Fuk-tsuen dispatchs a spy, Nip Dor-po, and instructs him to gain Hong-hei's trust.
Review: Now watching. This seems like a man's show cos it features two men friendship and fuel...

4. 天與地/ When Heaven Burns (HK)

Episodes: 30
Genre: Modern Drama
Casts: Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Kenny Wong, Charmaine Sheh, Maggie Shiu, Elaine Jin
Synopsis: In their youth Joe (Bowie Lam), Angus (Moses Chan), Ronnie (Kenny Wong) and Ka Ming are good friends and band mates. During a mountaineering trip, the four are stranded on a snow bound mountain and out of desperation Ka Ming is killed and eaten by the other three. This event has a traumatic effect on them, their friendship, and their friendship with Yan (Charmaine Sheh), Ka Ming's girl friend, leading the previously close group to go their separate ways. And the story continues from there...
Review: Now watching Episode 3. Not as exciting as I thought it will be. Maybe 好戏在后头?

Follow up check at the Gynae's

Sent A to the childcare centre before DC drove me to the gynae's. We left B with DC's parents who came to our place for 2 hours.

It was a quick visit. The gynae did a pap smear (report out in 2 weeks) and told me to continue taking the vitamins and fish oil and continue using the expensive cream. He also taught me some pelvic floor exercises and that's it! The next visit will be in one year's time.

B's Poop

Since birth, B has been pooping 1-2 times a day. However, on 2 Feb, she didn't poo at all. Then, on the next day, she pooed lots. After that day, she pooed almost after every feed!

Her stools are usually very seedy and watery and she usually spurts out her stools in all directions. We had to change her many times a day and sometimes when we are not careful, it will be all over the floor like this:

We wonder if she was having a diarrhea and thought we better bring her for checkup in the afternoon after the photo shoot in the morning. And so we went today although the scheduled appointment was on 13 Feb. We couldn't wait!

From another picture of the poop in diaper we showed him, the PD assured us it was ok as the consistency was alright (breastfed babies have grainy stools). He suspected that the increase in frequency was due to a change in my diet or change in formula... Hmmm, there were quite a lot of variables actually e.g a new formula can, varied milk proportion, new things that I consume...He prescribed rid wind (0.5ml every 6hrly) and probiotics (5 drops daily) for her. DC thought it was due to the NAN mum's milk that I just started taking every morning. Will stop the consumption of the mom's milk to see if it will stabilise...

Yet another miscommunication

We wanted the maid to cook herbal chicken soup for myself. The herbs were pre-packed by the confinement lady and I told her to use the chicken drumstick for the soup and the chicken wings to cook with potatoes.

In the evening, I saw the cut winter melons and knew something was wrong. After checking with the maid, I found out that she used the chicken for the soup and intend to cook winter melon soup for all! I quickly told her to add in some wolfberries and dates for taste. The soup turned out to be quite a disappointment, the taste is quite weird.

What I wanted but got for dinner tonight:
Herbal chicken soup -> Winter melon chicken soup with added chicken wings
Chicken wings with potatoes -> Chicken slices with potatoes

Well, at least the chicken slices with potatoes is acceptable.

Baby B's Photo Shoot Preview

We took B for her newborn photo shoot today. We brought A along for the family photo too. :)

B was alert throughout and we had difficulty capturing her closed eyes shots (just like her brother when he was 1 month old!). The funny thing is she fell asleep immediately after we stepped out of the studio!

I kept A occupied with his cars. He got sleepy towards the end of the session and we had to leave early. If not, I would have requested the photographer to take some pictures of him!

Here's the preview of the session:

CNY Gathering

DC brought us to his CNY gathering at the HR Director's newly renovated house. I met them a number of times each year and knew most of them there... They love our A too. :)

DC forgot the CNY oranges (and I thought he purposely didn't want to bring them as he earlier said there was no need to when I reminded him. He thought it was only a normal gathering although it was held during the CNY.) Luckily we met his colleague outside who brought his oranges and we went in with him and the oranges. :P

We had the lo hei there, A also joined in the fun. Not new to lo hei, he knows exactly what to do!

The four storey house is BIG and A has a terrific time running in and out the car porch and climbing up and down the stairs! We were very tired chasing him around but happy to see him enjoy himself so much. However, it's a pity DC didn't have much time interacting with his colleagues then!
20120204-D80-41

We brought our maid there too. She was probably the most comfortable one of us three! DC had to run around with our son and I had to follow behind them with my daughter while our maid stayed in the air-conditioned entertainment room with a packet of red date tea, watched HK drama on the TV, had time to eat her good lunch and even received a red packet! This makes me wonder if we need to review her work scope and assigned her with more child caring work esp when we are outside? Hmm...

3-in-1 soup

This is the first time we ask our maid to cook soup...

This is what she prepared:

DC asked for winter melon with carrot. She used only half the melon but added in potatoes, onions and went market to buy a lotus root specially for the soup.

We had winter melon soup, ABC soup and lotus root soup (3 kinds of soup) mixed into one for dinner tonight! Fortunately, it was quite drinkable.
