CNY Ang Pows 2014

Here are my CNY ang pows for 2014:

This is my 5th set of ang pows and I'm still enjoying the process! :) As usual, I did a draft first, DC gave comments and then I worked on those comments to fine tune it until we both find the end product satisfactory.

It was no brainer that the design of the ang pow this year had to be the kids riding on a horse. The flowers were plum blossoms and the prints came from B and my new blouse -- these were ideas that just popped into my head during the process! ;)

There was also a hidden meaning to the design - it also means: 馬上有(金)錢花! Hehe...

Added to a photo group

Today, I had a request to allow my photo to be added to the Gardens by the Bay Singapore Flickr group. I'm glad I can be part of this group that captured the beauty of our Gardens :)

Birthday Lunch at Au Jardin

Here's us at Au Jardin celebrating my birthday. DC found out that the restaurant was going to close down soon and so brought me back for a treat on him. :)

The last time we were there, B weren't even born yet. I still enjoyed the food there and of course, the greenery out of the windows! :)

Birthday Lunch

A year older and 4 yrs later, I'm back at Les Amis to celebrate my birthday. Lately, we weren't too happy with the fine dining establishments that we tried. Atelier Joel Robuchon, Iggy's, Gunther's and Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora were all disappointments.

I'm glad to say we enjoyed it. We took the $96++ menu and also top up $52++ for a cold angel-hair pasta to share. Money well spent for a good lunch!

Nice warm bread with salted and unsalted butter



Aubergine (eggplant) Fondant with Avocado Coulis
Distinctive colour of avocado was evident. The little flowers reminded me of Tatsuya. Slightly salty but it was good.



Cold Angel Hair Pasta
Ordered this as ala-carte for $52++. So so. The pasta wasn't really "springly" or QQ. Wasn't really cold too. Preferred that from Gunther's.



Pan-seared Scallop with Bordier Seaweed Butter
Nice with sea salt spread underneath the shell for the extra dip of taste to go along.



Steamed Blue Crab on Lobster Custard, Garnished with Caviar & Fennel Foam
Custard here simply means chawanmushi.



Hungarian Charcoal-grilled Pork Rack with Carrots Confit
Nicely presented carrot slices surrounding the mash potato. It tasted very much like the "signature" Joel Robuchon's mashed potato :) I wished I could have one more portion of the pork though ...



Angel Hair Pasta with Lobster, Cripsy Sakura Ebi & a Touch of Parmesan
CP had this. Passable only.



Fresh Sollies Figs with a Light Olive Oil Cake and Honey-fig Ice-cream
Something different. Quite refreshing. FIrst time I tried figs. I heard they had a patissier now, who seemed to be doing things right :)



Warm Reine-Claude Plum Souffle with Plum-Yoghurt Sorbet
CP had this. Nice, warm and fluffy. Good match with the sorbet.

Too sour for me. I let CP finished it.
