Botak Head

FIL did it again! In his free time, he brought A to the barber and cut his hair too short, again!

I wasn't as emotional this time, even though I still think he looks much better with longer hair... Hair could grow back, there's no point kicking up fusses because of this. And, it didn't look as bad as the last time, maybe because his birthday was over? or, because I had seen him in this hairstyle before and hence I wasn't as shocked? I wasn't sure which...

A, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy his new haircut. He kept touching his prickly hair at the back of his head. It was much later that I heard from DC that A refused to bathe when our maid laughed at him... So, I was wrong, he didn't like it as well, haha...

B is 19 months old

This was taken a day before we cut her hair short. She's so cute when she had her hair tied up! :)

B always know how to wow me with the things she learnt. E.g. she can sing and she knows her numbers 1-10 (just discovered yesterday)! One day before our maid's birthday, we sang a birthday song to her and on that afternoon, B sang it out without prompting, I was amazed!

She could pronounce both english and chinese words very clearly and she could express herself very well. Anything she wants, she'll make sure she'll get it. She'll say "Mei mei want" for example and if she didn't get what she wanted, she would cry out loud and lie on the floor. Lately this week, she started saying "Stop it", imitating her brother when she didn't want to do things that was requested of her.

She loves to eat and would want any food that you have in your hands or anything that her brother is eating. I guess one of her favorite times of the day would be the snack time just before bed. :)

Her new tooth which was the 3rd tooth at the bottom left was finally out (no more two tooth haha). Three others (2 on top and 1 on bottom right) are also showing. That explained her frequent poops last month.

She had her 5-in-1 vaccination with her brother this month. We were surprised that she didn't cry at all when she was jabbed! One more vaccination left next month!

She is a very loving child and is willing to share her food with others (A, DC and me). She'll say "Give Gor Gor, or Mummy eat, etc). She'll sayang you when she thought you are in pain and she'll hug and kiss with a smiley face. DC thought that was very sweet, and actually change his mind about having girls... At night, DC bathed her and played with her while I spent my time with A before their bedtime.

I find that she's more sociable and less shy now when she's with people. She'll greet them and said her Hi and Bye to them although she still didn't like stranger to carry her.

This month, we are still spending most of our time at Sentosa every alternate weekend. We brought the kids to Festive Hotel for a staycation and they love it. B especially loved the swimming sessions and was always excited when she saw photos of swimming pool and of her swimming in one. Last week, we brought her back to Sentosa and we celebrated A's birthday. She had fun following her brother running around that day. :)

Celebrating A's 4th birthday

This year, we decided to keep A's birthday celebration really simple and short. We've only invited our immediate families to join us in the celebration.

Our birthday boy today was very smart looking. He wore the same Polo t-shirt, jeans and shoes set as his daddy. He loved his new jeans so much that he refused to take them off! I wore a similar floral top to match B's dress. B and me also wore hair clips of the same designs! :) It may not be obvious but there was a theme set for the celebration and it was "Forest" or initially, "Garden". So, green was the colour.

Venue was at the Forest Restaurant at the Equarius Hotel@RWS, 12noon. It was picked among the many options that we had considered: Cherry Garden@Mandarin Oriental, Cafe Biz@Traders Hotel, Hua Ting@Orchard Hotel, Summer Pavilion@Pan Pacific, etc because it had a relatively good review, served an asian buffet which suited our families' tastes more, it looked bright and spacious, we had not tried it before and of course, the name best fits the selected theme. Too bad the restaurant didn't allow simple decorations to be done... otherwise there would at least be blue and green balloons for the kids.

Cake had to be ordered from the restaurant, the choice was quite obvious to us. Their mango mousse cake was nice!

Look at how happy A was! The celebration ended shortly after the cake cutting. We took a shuttle bus from the hotel to get back to the hugemongous carpark. We should have parked at the hotel, it's so much more convenient but I'm not complaining because A always enjoyed bus rides.

The birthday boy was so tired that he slept in the car journey while we made our way to our new place for a short tour (open house). B was tired too but she couldn't sleep in the car (she's just like me). Both slept very early tonight, after the presents opening session.

Thanks for the presents and blessings, A had an enjoyable day today! :)

What coincidences!

2 amazing discoveries yesterday and today!

Discovery 1:
We never knew of each other's existence until now! I'm talking about my new colleague who was surprisingly, my neighbor. She stayed 2 floors below us all those years when we were at our old place! I only got to know it yesterday. What small world!

Discovery 2:
DC's good friend was going to meet his friend who stays near my in-laws place. Little did we realise that his friend was staying just directly opposite to my in-laws! Our A had a fun time waving "Hi" to this uncle and watching his movements from his grandparent's kitchen today! Small world again!

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim

DIRECTOR: Guillermo del Toro
LANGUAGE: English with Chinese subtitles
OPENING: 11 Jul 2013
RUNTIME: 131 mins
RATING: PG13 - Violence

From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure “Pacific Rim.”

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

It was one of the rare occasions where both DC and I were both on leave. We took this chance to catch a movie together. It's a must watch, both DC and I enjoyed it very much. Liked the gigantic Gundam-like robots, the nice suits and the plot!

Hear B Sing

We brought our Maid to Swensens for lunch today and sang the birthday song to her.

In the afternoon, B somewhat picked up the lyrics and surprised me by singing the song out! "Happy Birthday to Aunty" she sang.

Hehe, it is going to be A's birthday next week. So I taught her to sing it this way: "Happy Birthday to you... Gor Gor!" :D

A's first movie

Haha, after so long, we have finally decided to bring him into the cinema! His very first big screen movie is "Despicable Me 2". :)

We weren't very sure that he would sit still but he did well. I'm surprised actually that he was quite engaged and made himself very comfortable eating popcorns while looking at the screen. So comfortable that he fell asleep half way into the movie...

Can't blame him for missing the ending, he was so excited about going to watch the "Bee Bo Bee Bo Bee Bo" that he couldn't take his nap!

After the movie, we brought him to his favorite "M", ate a meal there and got a minion back home. :)

The Queen of Fruits

It was the first time I had seen so much mangosteens!

Believe it or not, it's the first time I ate it too! I've eaten many durians (king of fruits) before but never mangosteens.

I didn't know that they look like a flower when opened up. Pretty! Worthy of the name Queen of fruits! :)

Some notes about Mangosteen:
- Very low in calories. Contains no saturated fats or cholesterol, but rich in dietary fiber which can be very important for people who are concerned about putting on excess body weight.
- Good in vitamin C. Vitamin-C is a powerful water soluble anti-oxidant. Consumption of fruits rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against flu-like infectious agents and scavenge harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals.
- Fresh fruit is a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as thiamin, niacin and folates. These vitamins are acting as cofactors help body metabolize carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
- A very good amount of minerals like potassium, manganese and magnesium. Potassium in an important component of cell and body fluids helps control heart rate and blood pressure; thus offers protection against stroke and coronary heart diseases
- Helps to overcome Allergies, Arthritis, Back Pain, Diabetes, Migraines, Fibromyalga, Chronic Fatigue, Low Energy Levels, Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms
- Known to work well as an antidepressant, it has a strong antiviral effect.
- Helps to heal ulcers, lowers cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Pay for a Deluxe Room, Get a Suite

Yes, for RWS Invites member, we got a upgrade to a suite at Festive Hotel, breakfast included. I wasted no time to book yet another staycation. Just look at B. She wasted no time indeed.

Overall, the room wasn't too bad although the drain trap on the bathtub wasn't working properly.

Had some fun in the pool at Hard Rock Hotel. It was modeled like a beach with sand but in a freshwater environment.

A Splashing Good Weekend

This weekend, we brought the kids to Sentosa again. This time for a stay-in at the Festive Hotel @ Resort World Sentosa!

The kids loved the room! It was not exactly a room, but a suite having lots of spaces for them to run about, and the best thing was that it was only at the cost of a deluxe room!

The girl went to explore the huge bathroom first and the boy went around all doors and switches.

Our initial plan was to visit the new attraction - Adventure Water Cove park but we didn't have much time left after we checked in. So, we changed the plan and visited the next door hotel's pool. It was a huge pool. A had fun sliding down the water slide while B had fun "Sweemming" (haha, what she excitedly exclaimed each time she found herself near to a pool).

Next, we went back to the suite and prepared a bath tub of water for them and poured their bath toys from home into it for more water play before they get into the shower room for their bath.

The next morning, the kids woke up earlier than usual, at 6.30am. That gave us ample of time to go down to the pool side restaurant to have our breakfast and to the pool for a dip!

It was a splashing good weekend!

After this staycation, the kids were so tired that they napped in the car before they even reached home (and A had 2 naps) and both slept really early tonight! :)

The adults actually had much to complain about the hotel's service e.g. baby cot took multiple reminders to arrive, faulty door latch, choked tub, etc. But of course, at the end of it, what's really important was that the kids enjoyed themselves!
