A Look Back At 2009

2009 is the year our little one is born! :) The year started with anticipation and did not disappoint when it ended. I never know I could feel so much in a year - the sour, sweet, bitter and hot... all thanks to the big word "Parenthood"!

________________________________________________________________________
CP celebrated her 30th birthday early this year cos DC was away on business trip on the actual day. Nevertheless, CP got lots of LVs for her birthday this year. :)
CP started to feel nauseous all night and hated the smell of lavender which used to be her favorite scent.
Chinese New Year came early this year. CP was all the more happy cos she had the perfect excuse to eat more. :)

________________________________________________________________________
CP's beloved grandma passed away. This came as a shock to her and her family. They had an elaborate funeral for her.
We spent Valentine's Day this year at home. Simple yet cozy.
Our 3rd anniversary was celebrated at Dolce Vita, Oriental Hotel. we were very touched by the restaurant's little thoughtful gestures and we loved the stay at Ritz Carlton.

________________________________________________________________________
CP fell sick during her pregnancy. It was quite a blessing for her cos she was spared from the nauseousness. However, CP did suffer from the dreadful leg cramps.
DC and CP went Japan for a break. Managed to catch more sakura this time, we just love the weather there!

________________________________________________________________________
The Japan trip continued into Apr, we came home satisfied. :)
Baby's gender was known and we started preparing for Baby's delivery.

________________________________________________________________________
H1N1 broke out and we were in constant fear for the safety of our baby.
We attended a niece's 1st birthday and celebrated Mothers' Day simple.
A breaking news for Singapore: Mas Selamat was finally captured.
CP couldn't bear the heat (due to pregnancy) and decided to snip off her long hair.
CP was in her 3rd trimester and both DC and CP enrolled into a pre-natal class.

________________________________________________________________________
On the 32 week checkup, we were greeted with an unfavorable news.
We had yummy porridge for Fathers' Day.
CP's tummy got bigger and she had her first fall during pregnancy and subsequently more accidents.
CP engorged herself with lots of chocolates, esp this day.

________________________________________________________________________
As CP's stomach got bigger, she found it more and more difficult to sleep.
DC took maternity photo shoot for CP, this was the 2nd set.
Baby was born!

________________________________________________________________________
CP was in confinement, it was a long, stressful and unbearable one month for her.
All stressed over Baby's colic problem and the milk supply. Worst of all, she suffered from wound infection.
We celebrated Baby's full month at home with our families, relatives and friends.

________________________________________________________________________
Finally gotten Baby to sleep through the night. After that, it was easy to look after him.
Baby's umbilical condition and colic problem were solved. We were relived.
Bad times were over, Baby's more manageable and we started bringing him out every weekend.
Baby has his first vaccination and fever came after that!

________________________________________________________________________
DC bought his studio lights and we now have a home studio. :)
CP's sis graduated and we had a new family photo shoot. It was fun.
We finally get to see Baby's photo shoot photos.
Baby passed his first 100 days.

________________________________________________________________________
We brought Baby to swimming and he likes it.
It's DC's birthday month and we were on a food binge. Of all the yummy food places that we went to in this month, I love Les Amis best!

________________________________________________________________________
Lots of celebrations await at year end. There was the fun costume christmas party, nephews' 1st birthdays celebration and some other christmas celebrations big and small... We dressed Baby up as deer and Santa! :)

Happy 2010! :)

Avatar 3D

Last day of 2009, we went movie watching. Avatar 3D, the first movie I watched after sooo looong!

Was excited and looking forward for the movie but it wasn't really that exciting actually. The 3D glasses were too huge for me and kept sliding forward and downwards! I felt uncomfy the whole time. Some of the 3D scenes were not really obvious and some of them were quite glaring. :( Many times, I took down the glasses and rather watched it blurred but without restrictions. I guess 2D still works better for me.

The effects of the movie were nice but it was quite boring at the beginning and gets only more interesting towards the end.

As usual, I would put down the story, just in case I would want to refer to it in the future:

AVATAR
Cast: Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Stephen Lang, Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldana
Director: James Cameron
Genre:Action/ Adventure
Language: English
Release Date:17 December 2009
Running Time:161 minutes

Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. More than ten years in the making, Avatar marks Cameron's return to feature directing since helming 1997's Titanic, the highest grossing film of all time and winner of eleven Oscars including Best Picture. WETA Digital, renowned for its work in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong, will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photorealistic 3D imagery that will transport the audience into the alien world rich with imaginative vistas, creatures and characters.

Good deal, a tub of Swensens ice-cream for $1 if you charge at least $100 to your HSBC cards. We had a total of 5 tubs, yummy!

Baby's 5th Month Vaccination

Baby had his 2nd Pneumococcal jab yesterday. Supposed to be last week but the doctor postponed it last minute. This jab was done in a jiffy. Although Baby did cry, his cry was a delayed one and lasted only a very short while.

He developed a fever of 38.4ºC today and I had to take leave today to look after him. He was very cranky and refused to be put down. Luckily his fever went down to 37.4ºC by noon, just in time for DC and me to catch our movie and this made it easier for my ILs to take care while we were away. Definitely made me less guilty about going out!

Fever completely went down by the time we were back. Phew!

And we thought Baby is already 6kg but were surprised to find that he was just a mere 5.2kg! *Sad* Must fatten him up for next month's assessment!

All in all, this vaccination caused me a total of 3 days leave! The leaves are precious but nothing's more precious than my little prince! :P

Baby getting sleepy waiting for his turn to see doc. I love the M&M socks he wore that day! :)

Yuan and Kai's 1st Birthday

Today, we are celebrating my twin nephews' 1st birthday, which falls on 31-Dec-2009. In just a short 2 years, the various families seemed to have amassed a great number of kids! I would have never imagined that back then. It's fun seeing the whole lot of them gathering together!

Just as I was feeling bored and browsing through all the Xmas photos (Baby slept really early today, I suddenly became very free!), a bright idea (as bright as Rudolph's nose) flashed across my mind!

How about a Santa baby tugging his sleigh with Rudolph the cheeky red-nosed reindeer on it? Ho, ho ho! :P

What a twist! I hope you like it!

All Thanks Be To You, Lord Jesus!

As we indulge in gifts and presents for each other, lavish dinners with our friends and families, I can't help but remember that you, Lord Jesus, is the true reason that we celebrate Christmas.

Because of you, Lord Jesus, that our baby Aaron came into this world safely. He is such a wonderful boy, bringing so much joy into our lives.

Thank you Lord Jesus, thank you Abba Father! We love because you first love us!

Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful
By: John F. Wade

Oh, come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant!
Oh, come ye, oh, come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the king of angels:
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.

Highest, most holy,
Light of light eternal,
Born of a virgin,
A mortal he comes;
Son of the Father
Now in flesh appearing!
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God
In the highest:
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,
Born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing!
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.

R.I.P.

Just last Friday at 5pm, I saw it scurried for cover.

On Monday, when I saw it again at 5pm, I had the greatest shock in my life! It was stuck at the edge of the door, there's dried blood around it, its skin blackened and it lay there motionless and crushed!

Rest In Peace, Lizard!

Baby is 5 Months Old

This month whizzed past and before I know, he's already 5 months old! Now that I've started working, I can only get daily updates from my PILs about him... I take over the nursing at night but the night is so short - I've to prepare him for bed straight after my dinner and that's only about 1 to 2 hours! Can't really bond much on weekdays...

We have been bringing him out on weekends to swim and for afternoon teas. His swimming skills really wowed us, it's such a happy sight when we saw how he enjoyed the sessions one better than the previous! :)

Baby's eyes seem to be fully functional. He can see far, knows where to look out for us at a distance and he could see well in the night too. He focuses well now - sometimes you'll spot him crossed eye, staring hard on the milk bottle, ha.

His hands more coordinated, he's always ready to grab whatever that touches the little hands, that includes his face - he had scratches on his face once in a while. Just yesterday, he tried to touch my face with his hands! :)

Like last month, he has no problem sleeping through the night (I carry and rock him to sleep every night) but he still naps very little during the day according to my ILs. *worried* However, he now don't cry that often when put him on his bed. I guess he's been having the fun flipping himself to his side. No, he's not on his stomach yet - still hates lying on his stomach!

Now, there's another thing that worries me - Baby has mastered the skill of sucking the bottle teat without drinking the milk! Sometimes while feeding when you check on him 15 mins later, you'll realised that there's still that much of milk left in the bottle! Luckily this doesn't take place all the time, otherwise he'll not be having enough nutrition (not to mention the fact that he's already drinking lesser than his peers)! I'm very proud that most of the time I can make him drink up his milk... but this is a trick that DC and his parents has yet to pick up.

At month 4, Baby's personality is slowly beginning to show... he'll shout angrily and grumble when you push the bottle to him on times when he does't want to be fed, he'll laugh out loud happily and smile very sweetly when people play with him, he's cranky when he's sleepy and he has the ability to mimic other babies! Yes! We were caught by surprise that day when we thought we heard him crying and it turned out that he was not crying at all, he was just having fun making sounds exactly like the crying baby!

Baby, oh Baby, how fun it is to discover what you can do day by day! :)

Baby Swimming 6

Today, this cute creature (what is it called?) swam with Baby...

One of the staffs at PS came to help out at the new outlet and recognized Baby the moment we reached. She commented that he looks bigger and swims better and happier than she remembered! Indeed, we weighed him at home today and found that he has put on about 1 kg since last month! :D

The shop owner (we assumed) kept promoting the big jacuzzi tub but we don't think Baby is ready for that, so we stick to the small tub today.

Like last week, he was in good mood. He happily kicked very vigorously and created great waves as he swished and swashed about in his tub! DC thought it was not a coincidence, we actually timed it such that he swims half hour after his feed. I guess we'll stick to this arrangement since it works. I don't want a cranky baby in water!

The happy baby in choppy water...

After the swim, we went for lunch and after that, it's mummy's shopping time! :P
