The Tourist

I've to thank Johnny Depp. If not for him, DC probably wouldn't even consider watching this movie. :P

Finally seen Depp's real face... not exactly clean shaven face but clearer than Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean), Willy Wonka (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Sweeny Todd, Mad Hatter (Alice in the Wonderland) and Edward Scissorhands! Even so, I'll probably not be able to recognize him. Hehe, unlike DC, I'm just that bad with faces! :P

Anyways, the story is rather slow and plot is simple with a little twist at the end. I like it, Beautiful Angelina Jolie and Scenic Venice rocks! Not a bad way to spend the new year eve afternoon at all... ;)

The Tourist
CAST: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff, Rufus Sewell
DIRECTOR: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck

Against the breathtaking backdrop of Paris and Venice, their whirlwind romance quickly evolves as they find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Back to Lawry's

After 4 years, we returned to Lawry's for a good meal, our last meal out for Year 2010. :)

Things changed (we had Baby and Lawry's had shifted from Paragon to Mandarin Gallery) but the food at Lawry's remains the same.

Just realized that I had what I ordered 4 years back!

DC ordered the Lawry's Cut and he agreed it's too big.

Blessed gifts

Here's what Baby had for this year.

Here's what I received:

And, here's what DC had for Christmas.
20101225-D80-86
A LV key holder which doubles up as a bag chain! :)

DC also bought a iPhone4 for me on the last day of the year. Out of the three telcos, only M1 has stock. Thank God too that I wanted to subscribe to M1. They have good corporate rates for my company.

X'mas Activities

I did these with my little one to keep him involved and to teach him about the festival. :)

1. Craft
We colored the picture of Santa Clause and pasted cotton wool for the beard.

2. Setting up the Christmas tree
Baby helped pass me the balls to hang up the tree.

Now he knows what a christmas tree is and could point it to me when I asked "Where is the X'mas tree?"! :)

3. Orchard Christmas Lightings
We brought Baby to see the Christmas lightings at Orchard Rd - How could we have missed this? :P The festival come in timely as he is very interested in lights now.

4. Listening to Christmas music and songs
It's fun to see him move to the beat!

5. Introducing Christmas objects
He saw Santa hats, gingerbread boy, christmas tree, presents, lights, etc

6. Wrapping presents
He saw me wrap the presents.

7. Making little cards
This is what I wanted to do with him but didn't manage to. However, I made some gift tags and pasted them on the presents.

8. Going to X'mas day party
This year's party was at my sis place. It was the first time we were there. He saw the good food, the gift exchange and the cake cutting. I hope he realized it's his aunt's birthday too! :)

9. Coloring
I printed a christmas related picture for Baby to color on it.

It's a Christmas tree.

10. Opening presents
I let him unwrap his presents, I must say he did a pretty good job!

Hope you had a wonderful X'mas this year too!

Baby's new Drumset

We gave Baby this drumset as x'mas present and was thrilled with joy to see him so excitedly beating the drums! None of us taught him how to hit them but he did it beautifully.

We guess it must be the music lessons he is going now! Well done, Baby! :)

X'mas Day Party

Today's party was at Sis's place. It was our first time to her new home. So, it was a little like house warming cum Christmas cum Birthday party. :)

DC helped bake the chicken and ribs and Bro came to fetch us to the venue. Feasting started immediately after we reached, followed by the gift exchange...

Sis and Ah Boy with their brollies:

Ah Boy with his nerf guns:

Sis with her microwave oven:

Then, we arranged for a surprise for her. She has a LV box.

Inside the box was a clue to her actual present. (Just like what I did to Ah Boy 4 years back. See here.)

She had to go downstairs, to the car park to look for it...

Found it in the boot!

What's in the big box?

A LV Sistina for Sister! :)

Lastly, there was the cake-cutting by the birthday girl. The durian log cake from emicakes was yummy! We finished it up in no time!

Baby got himself a Lego set (Baby missed his first nap to attend the party. He was rather cranky). I gave each a Polo to Sis, bro and mum. DC got a LV keyholder from me.

What a merry christmas! :)

Merry X'mas 2010

We just collected Baby's photos n he was sooo cute in the photos! I see that two of the series could be used for the x'mas card. So, here they are!

Last year, he was both reindeer and Santa baby. This year, he is Eskimo and Angel :D

The third card was modified from an existing template - See our family in the reflection of the bell? :)

They were printed out to be given out as gift tags on the presents tomorrow... Merry X'mas 2010! :)

X'mas Eve Celebrations

We had our Christmas celebration in office at 12noon.

There were the usual christmasy food like turkey, ribs, hams, log cakes and other food like sushi, pro-biotic chicken, chicken wings and tarts...

There were door gifts too this year. The cut papers were done by a colleague's korean wife, nice!

After the lunch, I went last minute shopping for gift wraps and headed home to prepare for the night.

At night, we went to a good friend's wedding celebration at Sheraton. She's the last of the gang to get married, finally settle down after 11 years of courtship! Congrats! :D

And we are ready to count down to X'mas! Merry X'mas everyone!

My 17-month old Baby

Photo above shows Baby at 16 months old. It was his first time on the supermarket trolley. :) At home, he loves to ride his truck around the house and sound the horns.

It's the X'mas season this month! We brought Baby to a Mafia X'mas party and my gathering with ex-colleagues. We also brought him to the crowded Orchard Road to see the Christmas lightings and took photos with the X'mas tree. Recently, he has became very interested in lights and will point at every passing light source and says “灯灯”. It's just nice that it's there are festive lights this period! :)

Another thing he is interested in is opening and closing doors. Whether it's at home, in the taxi or outside, if he sees a door, he wants to open and close them. It's quite an effort to sit him properly in the taxi or car, I've to repeat to him that we have not reached our destination yet and he must not open the door of the taxi! Good thing is that he understands that but he will not have the patience to wait and will keep pointing to the door handle to ask me whether he could open the door!

Probably because he has started his playgroup or because he is teething or because we kept changing his milk powder or is it that he is no longer taking breast milk (used up mid this month)?, he was sick for a while...diarrhoea, teary eyes and now he coughs occasionally. However, he remains a happy baby and sooooo adorable! :)

He is more active now, he listens to instructions better, crawls and babbles more than ever. He could now gargle and drink from straw too! We could make out certain words amid the sounds e.g. "there", "hi", "Dad-dy", "Teng-Teng" (means light), Mum Mum (means eating) and water (beginning to hear more often)... keep them coming, Baby! :)

What a Mob!

This is a follow-up post from the last one we published...

We wore these cool outfits to our underworld rendezvous last week. Ha, we played mobsters from head to toe! :P

DC as Traid Boss:
I think DC has the easiest time gathering his props. Hats and vests can be found in every shops that sell man shirts! He got his hat from a shop in Bugis ($18.90) and vest from Domanchi, Marina Square ($79).

He did however, had a little problem with choosing what stripped shirt to wear! :P

Skull and gun neck tag and chain from 77th Street. ($21.40)

Sub-total: $119.30

CP as Lady Punkster:
Initially, I wanted to get a tiered black tube dress with hat and a pair of boots and gloves. Too bad, I couldn't find a suitable dress. Thank God, I found the alternatives at 77th Street. :)

White top with tiered puff sleeves ($19.90), black vest with dangling blings on chest and chains on shoulder ($49.90), mini black skirt ($26.90), bangle ($24.90, we saw the same one at POA and the price is double!), necklace ($48), all from 77th Street, Bishan.

The hat is from M)phosis, $24.60. Sunglass is my own. I also bought black gloves from M)phosis but alas! I forgot totally about it until NOW! Cost me $41.90, what a waste! :(

Shoes from Charles n Keith, Bishan, $41.90. Socks from CitrusSox, Bishan, $7.90. I chose this combination over a pair of high-heeled boots . Saves me $40 and they are re-usable and allows me to carry Baby (my assessor y as usual) with ease! :)

Sub-total: $285.90

Baby A as Baby Boss:
A romper that we chanced upon a cart at Suntec at $22. I love to get rompers, they don't get out of place easily. :)

Baby gets a mini hat too. What's a mafia without his hat? I got it from Chameleon, 313 for $7.90. Mini hats are difficult to find now! I still remembered there were lots last year (what a difference one year makes!). DC hated it cos it's studded with "diamonds", ha! The hat is now sitting on top of the toy cow's head (fits perfectly).

Sub-total: $29.90

Guns and pistols from Toys 'R' Us.

We were hoping to win the best-dressed baby award... disappointed to know that the prize category was omitted this year!

Total damage = $435.10!!!

Let me in

After our visit to the dentist, we went Cathay Cineleisure to watch this movie.

A rather different vampire show, we found it sad and disturbing too but scary is not the word to describe this supposedly horror movie...

CAST: Chloe Moretz, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese
DIRECTOR: Matt Reeves
GENRE: Horror/ Thriller
LANGUAGE: English with Chinese Subtitles
RELEASE DATE: 09 Dec 2010
RUNTIME: 115 mins
RATING: NC16 (Violence & Some Nudity)

Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) stars as Abby, a secretive 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbour. Owen can't help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

Dreadful Dentist Drill

DC and I took leave to visit the dentist today. It was a stressful session, with the dreadful sounds the drill make (Why did technology not advance here and make the process more friendly?)! It makes me ponder why I want to put myself to that amount of stress just to clean up my teeth!

I guess the consolation was that the fees is free (or rather, claimable). :P
