The Trinity ... One of three ...

I got it! Finally lay my hands on one ... one of the Nikon Trinity lens ... selling at about $2600 in the market - the legendary 17-35 mm F2.8D Nikon lens. Oh boy, it's so shiok! The wonders of a F2.8D lens ... now that I got to handle one, I think it's only a matter of time ... right now, I can only afford to rent ...

Fish Spa

We saw this stall at Bugis Junction that provides fish spa and hand manicure services.

Ever heard of fish spa?

This workds by putting both hands into a fish tank full of Kangal fish. The fish is said to be able to nibble off the diseased skin area and removes the dead skin cells.

Interesting isn't it?

Shocking News

Something seriously BIG happened to my company... On Thursday, we were informed that our Global CEO was here and had something to announce to us. I didn't make it to the boardroom on time, the door was already closed so i skipped the session. Shortly after the meeting was over, we received news that our Chief Executive had resigned! This is a real shock to us. Why would someone who was given a prestigious title of "Hotelier of the Year" and about to join the board in July leave so suddenly? What's more, he told us during the recent townhall meeting that he will remain in Singapore with us after he joined the board! It turned out that the decision was made after an internal review of the academic qualifications he had previously submitted to the company. This is so unbelievable and Ouch! It must have hurt him big time esp. when he fell so suddenly from his seat up there. On Friday, our TGIF session broke record high... this was the first time I've met the CEO in person. He explained to all that this decision is necessary, blah blah blah... and introduced the acting Chief Executive. On Saturday, the news appeared on the papers, a half-page reports on the first page of Home! Wow!

Last day at work and a last shoot from around

Today's my last day at work. Next week I'll be moving on to a new company. Just before I go, I thought I'll grab a few shots of the surroundings from Suntec 26th floor.

DC's Hair Treatment

DC went for a haircut yesterday and sent me a picture message while he was doing his hair treatment. He has never done this before; this was the first time and Muahahaa.. he looked so cute in the pictures! :) He reminded me of one character in the Super Mario Brothers video game.. :P

Notice the striking resemblence? Muahahaha...

I used to love this Nitendo game when I was young... :)

I Love Suntec!

We went Suntec on Saturday after the Bak Kut Teh lunch. Suntec is ever-changing... If you have not been to Suntec City for quite a while, ... you'll be surprised to find that quite a number of changes have taken place.. in fact, I made some new discoveries on Saturday.

1. Children Drawing Workshop
where kids learn to draw bunny, cats, hippo, etc.
Aren't the kids attentive? :)

2. Build-A-Bear Workshop
I've been eagerly waiting for this shop to open. It's finally open for business! :) I simply love the furry animals there. Hehe...I have asked DC to buy me a bear to be our piggy's companion.

I think it's a real cool idea to make your own stuffed toys in simple guided steps. Here's an example:
To turn into , simply,

Step 1: Stuff it with cotton,

Step 2: Fill it with a heart.

Other things you could do include
- adding sound to it,
- naming the stuffed toy and,
- dressing it up with outfits and accessories.

And tata, it's done.. plus, you can bring it home in an exclusive Cub Condo carrying box (aka Bear House or Kennel if it's a dog). :)

We found this pair of wedding bears there. They are so sweet! We definitely would have gotten it if we were preparing for our wedding... but too bad for us, the shop has opened 1.5 years too late.

3. Happy Kidz
This is the place for parents/parents-to-be to shop for their kids toys and maternity dresses. There are now stalls selling traditional foods...candy floss, ice shavings, muah chee, etc! Ahh.. remember the old days...

4. My.Playground
Yeah! I think this will be my new playground. The shop spaces here are small and circular.. the concept is like Level 1 at Far East Plaza and Heeren but there are only a few shops that are open for business...

Look what we found there:

5. Tasty Treatz
You can find favorite snacks and drnks here.. Shilin Street snacks, Old Chang Kee, Ya Kun and bubble tea. Irresistable good stuffs... I feel that I'm in Taiwan!

6. e-life
Find digital lifestyle products there... but why is Starbucks hiding right inside?

After all the shopping, DC and I chose Ben & Jerry's to rest our tired feet. DC ordered a mango smoothie. Nope, the drink wasn't satisfying at all. In fact, it was too sour even for my liking! It was a wrong choice of drink but Suntec is definitely a good choice for shopping. I love Suntec! :)

Late Night Shopping at Northpoint

There is a Bonia boutique at Northpoint. Thinking that there may be late night sales and additional discounts for Bonia items, DC and I went Yishun Northpoint for late night shopping.

We wanted to get a matching Bonia wallet for my bag but were disappointed to find that they had been out of stock for quite a while. :( Guess I have to wait for the stock to come... but hey, i did spot a pair of shoe with the same design as my bag and I'm seriously considering whether to get it..

There were 2 DJs from Radio 95.8FM hosting the event. They drew quite a big crowd to Northpoint while they played the Mercury Rising Game, gave out prizes and promoted the shops. However, not many shops were opened till late...we were disappointed to see John Little closed at only 9 plus.

We didn't buy anything, only a plate of wanton mee at the Food Court. Thank God the noodle tasted not bad, in fact it was quite nice.

What a wasted trip!

Bak Kut Teh 肉骨茶

We went to this popular Bak Kut Teh 肉骨茶 stall at Sim Ming Rd for lunch with parents-in-law after visiting DC's uncle.

This is the 3rd time I've been to the coffeeshop, finally get to try the Buk Kut Teh this time. :)

1st time there, I was with my parents and they treated me duck rice (which is also nice)
2nd time, I went with my parents and DC. Stall was closed, we ended up ordering the 煮炒 which didn't really meet the mark.
This time, we ordered a bowl of stewed trotters and a Bak Kut Teh each.

The Bak Kut Teh is teochew style, the ribs they give were quite big and the soup tastes very peppery and galicky. It is quite addictive actually.

I don't take stwed trotters but accordingly to DC, my mum's cooking is better! *Proud* :D

Dinner at Spageddies

DC felt like having Italian food for dinner today, so we brought mother-in-law to the Spageddies Italian Kitchen at Paragon. The crayfish Parmigiana I had was yummy! DC's chicken spaghetti and mother-in-law's Chicken Fettuccine was not bad too.
There was quite a queue outside the restaurant when we were out. Noticed a few young teenage boys in the queue carrying big shopping bags from the brand F and LV. I wonder where these kids got their money from...what an inexcusable extravagance! By the way, do boys go for LV nowadays too?

Treat at Bishan Park

Sister got her bonus and treated us to dinner at Bishan Park tonight. Too bad brother, brother-in-law and ah boy are not able to make it for the dinner.

It has been quite some time since we ate at this restaurant. The last time we went there was to celebrate the other sister's birthday. The restaurant has changed it's name serveral times..from Jackson Seafood to Fisherman's Village to the current Nature Park Seafood. The surroundings has also undergo a revamp...there's an open bar that plays Canto-pop music, prawning pond and pool table... the changes have successfully revived the otherwise quiet area.

For dinner, we have oyster egg, fried squid, drunkard prawns (Yummy!), crispy chicken, pomfret fish and kang kong. This was a warm meal. We had so much fun esp. when we laughed at the lady who is in charge of clearing the drinking mugs. This was a joke... the lady kept wanting to clear my mum's drinking mug, then my dad got frustrated and told her off by saying: "We still need the mug. If you want to clear, please clear the plates first!". Ha ha..This works for she never came back again.

Massage Week

It's massage week this week! My company has paid for a 20 mins massage for every employee.

The massage came just timely. I've been complaining to DC about my sore back lately and that I just couldn't sleep as well these days...

I went for my massage today at 4:30pm with a colleague. The session was held at the company's library. When we were there, VN and I was shocked to see that the therapists are males. I didn't mean to be bias but I had expected to be served by a lady therapist.

We chose the neck & shoulder massage. Ouch! Male therapist sure have strength. When he was massaging my neck, I thought that could be very well be the feeling of strangulation. *choking* He did the chopping act on my back but boy! he slapped really hard... does he really think my back is a chopping board and his hands a chopper? Nevertheless, I do like it when he did the acupoint pressure, it felt really good. I would say that his skills is not bad, afterall he has been certified, but he has really exerted too much strength. My hands were all red (until now!) after the massage.

Someone told us that the messeurs were from the Singapore Association of Visually Handicapped. But, they do not look visually handicapped at all. I can confirm from these observations:
- He noticed I wore a skirt and handed me a towel.
- He adjusted the height of the massage chair and told me that an Ang Mo was before me.
- He put the tissue sheet nicely on the chair with no difficulty.
- He is able to walk without aid, no white cane.

What an experience... I hope I can have a good sleep tonight.

Dates: Monday 4 June to and including Thursday 7 June 2007
Times: 9:00am to 5:30pm each day
Masseurs: 2 Fully certified massage therapists from the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped
Type: Choose from neck & shoulder or foot reflexology, 20 mins each
Cost: Nothing! Compliments from the company

Fantasticar

Was told by my colleague that the first 20 to flash the CapitaCard can get a free 4R picture taken with the mock-up of the Fantastic Bio-Car and an exclusive photostand. After the team lunch today, the two of us hurried to Bugis Junction to take a look. Little did we expect ourselves to be the first for the picture shoot!

Introducting the FANTASTICAR...

  • Hybrid vertical takeoff/landing craft combining electric-powered fan lift and jet turbine thrust that yields maximum fuel efficiency.
  • A cutting edge, air-worthy vehicle, capable of transporting the Fantastic Four around the globe at tremendous speeds.
  • Three modules that detach and fly.
  • Designed by Reed Richards.
  • Maximum airspeed is 880 kph with all four memebers on board.
  • Maximum altitude is 9100 meters.

Edit: DC came Bugis Junction the next day after work. Apparently, the CapitaCard free 4R photo shoot is for the first 20 EVERY DAY from 6-17 Jun, not just 6 Jun only. At 7pm, we were again the first to get the exclusive photostand for CapitaCard holders. :)

BONIA...BONIA

DC bought a gift for me last Tuesday -- It's a BONIA bag! It was really a delightful surprise. What's the occassion you may ask... well well, you don't need a special reason to pamper your wife. Everyday could be a gift day! :D

I like the design of the bag very much. I like the leather, the print, the colorful details on the handle and the charm...I like it so much that I ask for a matching wallet and guess what? He readily agreed! Haha... my husband's the B(onia)est!

Buffet Dinner at Conrad

DC took me to Oscar's at Conrad for buffet to celebrate a very special occassion.

The decor was very nice and the area was spacious. We tried their soup, seafood, meat and rice (indoor selections), then the signature laksa and prawn mee soup at the outdoor noodle bar and, lastly was the sweet little desserts..

Recommended:
> Laksa: taste is there but a little too hot for me as I can't take chilli at all but if you are a chilli lover, the hotness is nothing to you..
> Espresso ice-cream is a must-try
> Chocolates (lots of them sitting at the dessert corner)

We spotted a middle-aged couple on the next table who ate at least 5 rounds and are still going for their Nth round... Ya, we lost to them, the pair of 50-somethings! Tried to use my handphone to grab a pic of them inconspiciously ... must be careful, they are just sitting next to us.

The waiter that took a photo for us held the SLR like a pro. Not bad, the final output.
