IT Buys at COMEX 2012

Was walking around, happened to chance upon the Samsung booth by Harvey Norman. Secretly wanted to buy a LED TV for gaming in the study room.

The promoter was shouting, 3 up for grabs ... 2 fellas grabbed it ... I looked at the offer ... Samsung LED Smart TV 40 in, with 3 yrs warranty, wireless dongle, HDMI cable, DVD player, free wall bracket and installation for $849 ... Oh what the heck, I have been thinking for months, just grab it!!!

I am so looking forward to it!

The next day, I went back again to grab a Xbox wireless controller with rechargeable pack at $69.90. The old wasn't working properly. SO looking forward to playing Gears of War 3 with it on the new TV!

On the third day, I went back again ... to get a waterproof camera! Fujifilm XP30 at $169.

A's new game

A's new game is to cover himself in his blanket and to walk in it!

Surprisingly, he never bumped into anything nor did he fall once.

DC guessed he looked down on the floor to find his way. I thought he knew every corner of his home... :) This game always ended up with him bursting into great laughter. His laughter is so contagious that I almost always laugh with him! :)

P.S. What do the picture above remind you of? Haha, the caption might jolly well be A playing ghost in Ghost Festival! :P

Happy Birthday, Bro!

It's my bro's birthday today and his wife is so sweet to have planned out a surprise party for him! :) She gathered his friends and organized a BBQ at Chevrons chalet.

I couldn't go as I had to fetch both kids after work. By the time we reach, it would have been their bedtime!

Mum and Dad were there... I'm sure he had a great time, Happy Birthday, Bro!

To the park again!

We went back to the Park again, this time on the double stroller!

We walked a bigger round this time.

A and B took turns to sit on the stroller:

We saw aeroplanes fly over us twice.

The park in the late morning is hot but very windy. We chose a bench and lazed about for a while. Took some photos of A and B there:

B loved the bench.

A too loved the bench, so much that he refused to leave. We had to coax him and DC brought him to the pond in front of Mac.

I love park strolling with my loved ones. Life's surely at its simplicity! *Love* :)

A is 3 years and 1 month old

This month was a very bad month for A as he was sick, recovered, sick again and now recovering from his flu! It pains me to see him eat a lot of medicine everyday! It seems that he always get flu this time of the year! See how we coped last year - 2011 and the year before last year - 2010!

It didn't help that the childcare centre had cases of HFMD. I kept A at home. Fortunately, DC's father was there to help out for the past 3 weeks!

He enjoyed his cars so much that DC bought more expressways and carparks for him! We also got him two taxis (comfort cab and citicab) and a SBSTransit bus. He called the cabs "Marymount" now.

He lined his cars up side by side and in twos sometimes. He moved on and lined iphones, keys, shoes and tissue boxes side by side! Tissue box was his latest game. It was amazing how he remembered where he took the boxes of different designs and brands from and could put them all back in the same place!

He liked to demand that the room doors be opened or shut and the room lights be switched on or off whenever he felt like. His fingers got hurt once during one of the plays by his grandfather but that, surprisingly did not stop him from playing this little command game! Instead, he played smart now and withdraw his hands and moved further away when he was giving the orders, ha!

He liked playing with soft toys, ha of all things! He fed the "Zhuzhu" (pig) and talked to the "Papa Bear", "Aaron's Bear" and "Meimei Bear" (or Baby Bear) and today, when we visited the pd, he told us to try to prevent him from getting into contact with the toys. Ohhh, time for a cleanup!

I bought a new plaything called "PlayFoam" and it caught his attention for quite a while. It was an alternative to the "PlayDoh" and when he was sick of rolling them, he created new ways to play with them, e.g. sticking them on the door and to put them in his mouth!

He started telling me when he was peeing and I was wondering whether I should start him on toilet training?!

We started giving him fresh milk regularly now, starting last week in the hope that it will not cause A constipation as much as drinking powdered milk did.

His sister coughed badly this month and required the nebuliser. A hated the nebuliser but interestingly liked to see his sister being what we called "nu-nu"! He also loved wearing masks! We bought the kid's masks but A rejected the kid's mask and wanted to wear the same masks as us! His sister hated the medicine. I saw A encouraged B telling him that medicine is nice!

Whenever we came home, he, who understood the procedures very well, would asked us to do the things that we normally did (e.g. asking us to change, eat, shower, etc). I taught him to greet me "Nite Nite" whenever he was sleeping and We introduced puffs to his sister and he loved to feed his sister! :)

He went to some outdoor places too even though he was sick. :P We brought him to the park next door and the zoo, both which he enjoyed very much. He walked a lot too, this was something that he refused to do! He's really grown up (both mentally and physically - taller and heavier now)! I'm so proud of him!

B continues to have great progress this month. :)

20120818-D80-20
She sits very well now without support and upright now.

She started babbling one night on the journey home all of a sudden and it surprised us all. Her mischievous Gor Gor imitated her, that made us all laugh out loud. :)

She is now always pulling herself up to stand and refused to sit! So, I left her in her cot sometimes. She likes jumping (legs not really lifted from ground yet) and would cry if I didn't give her enough attention.

She could move from one end of the bed to the other, not really cruising yet but slowly making her way step by step to her destination.

At night, she sleeps well, sometimes waking up once, sometimes sleeps through.

We brought her to trim her hair short for the second time. She didn't cry at all. I was proud of her! Now, she looks like a boy without hair accessories.

One sad thing though... She was sick for the whole month and coughed so badly that she vomits regularly after feed and needed to be on nebuliser! And, she blew her chance to go for her first staycation! Her reactions to the nebuliser surprised me. The first time she used it, she was ok with it. Then, the second and subsequent times, she cried out loud and struggled to get off the mask. However, the last few times, we realised that she wasn't afraid of it anymore and didn't cry at all! When she was almost well, she passed the virus back to her brother! :(

She was given balls and cars by my mum and FIL to play with and she likes them!?! She loves her Gor Gor and would smile and laugh when she sees him. Her brother, on the other hand, was not so friendly towards her. In fact, he disliked her to touch his toy cars and always shouted "NO!".

Her nanny taught her to wave bye-bye and she seems to be able to follow instructions and did it!? :) Not sure if it's just a coincidence. :)

She's still on ebm in the day. Because she was coughing badly, we stopped her cereals and resumed next month. We, however, introduced her to puffs and bread crumbs which she loved!

We took her to Bishan Park and Changi Airport T3 which, she behaved very well. :) 3 days ago, Daddy took many photos of her at home using his studio gears. We dressed her up in a pretty dress that DC's cousin gave and a clip that I just bought. She looked so sweet in it! We loved the result of the photo shoot! :)

Family Outing to the Zoo

I collected the pass from the company on Thu and off we went to the zoo again today.

The trip began with lots of hiccups. We woke up late, went into a mad rush to pack our stuffs and forgot lots of things - zoo pass, staff pass, wallet, handphone! Ha, and we had to make 4 trips back home to get them! We also wanted to bring the kids to the water playground but by the time we got ready, it was too late (11am), so we dropped the idea.

When we were finally there, we were astounded by the huge crowd there as it was public holiday today. Fortunately, we were blessed with immediate entry without having to queue up to get the tickets! :) We took a photo at the entrance.

Inside, we watched the monkeys and crocodiles, then we set off to find some polar bears. We were sad to find none except Sun bears! So it seems that the polar bears were hibernating somewhere and will only come back next year! :(

Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the trip. We took a tram ride and had lunch there.

It was B's first time to a zoo! Here's her having her first puffs. :)

We took a photo at the exit and that wrapped out our day out today! :)

Studio Fun

DC decided to take out his studio gears and had some photo fun this morning.

It was a last minute plan and I thank God that we happened to have a very nice dress for B with a  matching tiara hair clip that I just bought, they were just nice for photo shoot! That's one detail men would never bother about, ha! :)

Here're some of the photos he took of the kiddos (Nice!):

After this session, I think we were really tired! It was both exhausting and challenging to position an active baby who always crawled away when she found something interesting and an active boy who is always moved about and rather play with his toys than to look at the camera!

No More Rooms

We missed the National Day staycation at MBS and wanted very much to arrange for another one soon. We decided on this coming weekend which is a long weekend as Hari Raya Puasa falls on a Sunday. However, the staff from the room reservations informed that the hotel was fully booked from Fri onwards and there was on more rooms available on the date we want!

Ok, we then tried 26 Oct 2012 which is the Hari Raya Haji holiday. Again, they informed that the corporate rates were not applicable on that day. We didn't want to take that because the corporate and the National Day rates were cheaper than the rate offered.

We tried 8 Sep 2012 which is the school holiday. I didn't expect that that day would be sold out too! :( Didn't know the rooms in MBS was so difficult to book!!

Seems like all the dates that we wanted were not available! We had no choice but to drop the idea!

Car Sets Indulgence

We have been indulging (some might say spoiling) A with Tomica car and Thomas train sets lately. These sets are on top of what he received for his birthday!

Not only A likes them, DC and I also had our faces lit up when we played with it! Ahem, we played with A... A played and we re-lived our childhood days. :)

Kids nowadays are so fortunate! Even baby B likes the cars very much!

It's A's turn to get sick

Took A to the doc as he contracted cough again, from his sister this time (we suspect)! :( He just recovered from his cough a week ago and it came back again?!

Fortunately, he didn't need the nebuliser yet, not like his sister who was very phlegmy. The nurses knew who he was and said that just a few days ago was his Meimei, now is his turn.

The other day, we were still laughing at A when he threw up after her sister vomited from coughing. Now, he vomited almost every day too when he coughed too hard. Sigh! I hope that this bad flu would leave us alone! And that we could have recovered from the tiredness accumulated in the past month!

[Edited on 13 Aug 2012: At night, his nose was blocked and runny and he couldn't sleep. It felt just like the few days when DC was not around and he's sick and feverish!]

[14 Aug 2012: A couldn't sleep well the whole night, he vomited on his bed while coughing. He woke up very tired. It was so unusual for my usually active boy to sit quietly on the sofa! Fortunately at night his cough was much better but he woke up a few times crying. He had bad dreams, was unable to fall back into sleep and he insisted on having both of us beside him until he fell asleep at 1am! :(]

[15 Aug 2012: A was better now even though he was still coughing. At least he could sleep through till 8+am! Things are definitely looking up! Amen! :)]

[21 Aug 2012: We brought A to the PD's today, wrong choice cos we ended up waiting for half a day to see him. He said A probably got prolonged viral flu and would recover perhaps 5 days to a week later. He had a low grade fever of 37.6ºC.]

[23 Aug 2012: Thank God, A is well again and went back to school today! :) ]

B started babbling

We were on the way back from T3 when I heard the most unexpected sounds from B. She babbled some meaningful sounds, she said "Da Da!" and she repeated throughout the journey back home! Da da? Why "Da da" (打打) and not "Ma" or "Mi" (for Mummy)? Beats me!

A, being very cheeky, found it very funny and parroted what her sister said. He then giggled and went on "Da da, Da da, hee hee, Da da...!" Ha, I had a great laugh at A's reaction! Excited about B's development, I recorded a short clip of it and sent it to my sis (and mum)! :)

[13 Aug 2012: When I went back office and told my colleague about it, she who had a girl about the same age, said that "Da da" is one of the common first words to say... Oh I see... and I thought it stands for æ‰“打 or Da-ddy! Ha!]

A ride to T3

A was coughing so badly that he couldn't nap. B wanted to sleep but was always woken up by her brother. So, DC decided to bring them for a long ride -- a sleep ride -- to the airport! :)

He detoured to Loyang and Changi Village so that they could sleep longer. We succeeded in making them sleep for 45-50 minutes and when they woke up, we headed to T3.

At T3, we searched for this shop at B2 that sells the Tomica carset that DC couldn't find in the Toy 'R' Us at Suntec. Thanks to DC's cousin, we found what we wanted! :)

It was a short trip but fun and rewarding one for A! He'll definitely be very excited when DC fixed his new toys up! DC is spoiling him! :D

A Stroll in the Backyard

We took A and B to our backyard for a stroll today, something which we always wanted to do.

Today's weather was perfect. We stopped by the playground and walked round the park with no sweat! :)

A walked with us round the park (Bravo!) and B napped in her stroller. I think the revamped park is better than before, the pedestrian paths are easily distinguished with the tiles that were laid on the ground and the park was bustling with people who were there:
- dog walking
- kite flying
- attending wedding dinner
- jogging
- cycling
- roller bladding
- playground playing
- spa going
- drain fishing
- picnicking, etc

A had fun pushing his sleeping sister in her stroller!

The experience is so good that DC wanted to bring the kids there more often. :)

Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy

CAST: Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, Oscar Isaac
DIRECTOR: Tony Gilroy
LANGUAGE: English with Simplified Chinese
OPENING: 08 Aug 2012
RUNTIME: 135 mins
RATING: PG

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

========================================================================
Was expecting much more for this movie but it's kinda disappointing... Both DC and me preferred the previous 3 Bourne series to this.

There were actions, many in fact. But the story and the plot did not appeal as much, probably they were not as fresh anymore. Some of the scenes were similar to other movie scenes. I also prefer Matt Damon to Jeremy Renner.

B is sick and there goes our plan

B started coughing during the time where DC went for his boot camp. I stopped her medication a few days ago as her nanny confirmed many times that she didn't had cough even though I also felt that she is still coughing. Wrong move! Yesterday morning, she started coughing many times (all along it was only once). The multiple coughs confirmed our fears!

In the middle of the night, she developed fever. This meant that our plan to go MBS to watch the NDP fireworks was not possible now! We canceled our booking today. Our holiday mood (esp DC's) was dampened as we look forward to our first staycation since B was born. The only consolation was that the hotel waived the penalty charges.

[09 Aug 2012: B's coughing badly, vomiting her milk almost every feed! It was a relief actually that we didn't insist on going MBS for the stay. I couldn't imagine clearing the mess and changing 4-5 clothes, we would have run out of clothes!! Her fever remains 37.8ºC but she's still active. Hope she gets better tomorrow!]

[10 Aug 2012: We brought B to her PD and were asked to use a nebulizer on her for 5 days as she was very phlegmy. The first time we administered that on her, she woke up from her sleep and did not move at all. She got that curious look on her face, I guess she must be wondering why are mummy and daddy putting on masks and what are they giving me? Haha, subsequent times were difficult. She struggled away from it and like her brother, we had to hold her down. She did feel better after it but, we started hearing A coughs! :(]

[12 Aug 2012: I managed to have a no-puke day today! Yeah! But, her fever came back. 38.4ºC in the day and 37.7 at night. And, A's cough was getting more frequent! :(]

[14 Aug 2012: B's cough was much better and her fever subsided. We were guilty that we wasn't able to administer the nebuliser on her for 4x in 3 days. Fortunately today, we were able to do so.]

[15 Aug 2012: Brought B back to PD's for follow up. She needn't the nebuliser now that she was much better. Doc prescribed some medication for her blocked nose and cough and some cream as she had some heat rashes around her neck area (suspected heat rashes or fake measles). She was able to sleep through for the past few nights, Amen! :) ]

[18 Aug 2012: B's blocked nose is cleared! Finally! :)]

It's me. I never find the batman series exciting. Instead, I found them dark and depressing. This sequel is depressing too but now with the cat woman, it adds some interest to me. DC found this movie very good, so did many of those I know.

I like the way the ending was done. Nice, unexpected with a twist.
