The power of camera phones

I was looking through some of my photos and I stumbled upon those taken using the Sony Ericsson K750i. This is a 2 MP camera phone with auto-focus function. I think given adequate lighting, the SEK750i photos can actually rival my semi-pro Olympus C5060WZ 5MP camera. Here are a few samples. If they are only going to be developed into 4R size only, I think I'll be hard-press to tell the difference. Haha, that said, it is still not as reliable as a dedicated camera, cos quite a few were washed out and grainy ... but the gap is closing :)

A trip to Chinatown

The Chinatown market has moved to Outram MRT while the former is undergoing renovations. Decided to go down with my parents to check out the new site and to learn how to do marketing :) Heard that the fish is fresh and cheap too!

Here's the famous "yong tau foo" stall. It a long queus as usual. We waited for about 20 min ... If you look at 2nd photo, you should see the long queue in the middle of it.

I think this will not be the last time I'm going down to Chinatown!

Grand Finale - Team France

Fittingly so, because this is the best of the 4-days fireworks display since 5-Aug-2006. It was also a sad day ... because the position is even worse than that for Team Caledonia. There is so many people this time that they all climbed right in front of my tripod, limiting my angle of view. Next time round, if ever there is a next time, I'll know.

So the photos are not too good ... but here it is anyway - Team France 12-Aug-2006.

Finding New Caledonia

Today's fireworks is by New Caledonia. It's a blast! Hopefully France's tomorrow will surpassed even this!

It's National Day today!

Went to a HDB block opposite the Kallang MRT to shoot fireworks again. The results were dismal! Where did I go wrong? It's the aperture setting and shutter speed! (Isn't that always the case ...?) There are still 2 chances on this coming Fri and Sat. Team New Caledonia and France will be displaying their fireworks on these days respectively. Finally found out what settings other pros use ... hmmm. No pictures this time round .. not worth seeing.

Fireworks Festival

It's the fireworks festival, kick-off by displays from Italy! I got quite a good spot for my tripod and fired off about 270+ photos for about 10 - 15 min. Sad to say, less than 10 were satisfactory. Well, we'll see if a dSLR will do much better ... if I manage to get one by end of this month :) Again, the better ones are uploaded to my Yahoo photo album.

Farewell Lunch and Dinner

Well, another good friend cum colleague left for better prospects ... again ... hmm ... So it was a farewell lunch with DC people and dinner with the outsourced NSC people.

Dinner was more interesting; lunch was at Crystal Jade Suntec. I like curry all this while but I can't really take spicy stuff, I'll look like I had just gone for a shower after that. Strangely, this year I had the most chances to try Indian food. First in Feburary, the honeymoon to Indian, where I tried Tandoori chicken, etc. Then two months ago at Khansama at Little India, today atHyderabadi Biryani in Little India as well. Yummy yummy yum ... the mango lassi is a must-try!

Again, the photos are in the usual place:
