Fun with Caps

A has been having fun wearing caps since the day out at beach...

Here're some of his photos with caps on.

And here's one of him with his hood on, a cap of sorts. :)

Domestic Help Arrives

We finally decided that it was time to engage a domestic helper to assist us with the housework. The agency called me this afternoon to pick her up as MOM has approved our application today. So, off we went at 6pm to bring her home...

Today was the first day and we were actually rather satisfied with her! She showed great initiatives in helping out with feeding Baby, wiping the food crumbs, mopping the floor and washing the clothes. And, she was always smiling. Have not tried her cooking (it's after all only her first day), I hope she can cope well in this too!

New Shoes for Baby A

His old shoes were getting tight. Surprisingly, all the experts said that the old pair was a good fit for his walking. So it was time for a new pair. We thought of getting the same pair but in bigger size. In any case, I saw that this new pair looked quite nice too. Might as well give it a try.

Now, even though you ordered from the SG website, the shoes were shipped from the UK. The sweet thing was shipping came free. Baby A new shoes went from UK to Germany, India and Shenzhen, China before landing in SG. The sweeter thing was that it only took 4 days to arrive. Nice!

My 22-month old Baby

He's learnt to shake his head to mean "No No". When I feed him, he shakes his head, when I ask him to come over to me, he shakes his head and when I ask him to help get things, he shakes his head! Some of the times he didn't mean to say no, I suppose he did it for fun to see my reaction. And he always has this cheeky face and chuckles after that action! It makes me want to shake my head too sometimes - dunno whether to laugh or cry!

He caught a flu virus which lasted for 3 weeks (recovering now). Not good and the weather is of no help - it's record-breaking hot this month! Baby missed some lessons because of his flu.

He's starting to utter more words from his mouth, some were pronounced rather clearly e.g. hi (raising hand when he says that), there (pointing to the direction), A Ma (grandma), no more (with sign), 灯灯 (pointing to light source), oval, 到 (just before getting off cab), Apple (when he sees one), orh orh (he uses this for sleeping and sitting interchangeably), oh no (when things dropped), etc. Other words include bye bye (he says tata), water (he says ter and sometimes ter ter), hello, 面面 (he says nian nian), gai gai (sounds like his orh orh), 葡萄, 蚂蚁 (sounds rather precise actually), hold (for us to hold the handle when in cab), MRT, 豆腐 (sounds quite clear actually), up, down, amen (only once but loud and clear!), etc.

He's learnt to fold his arms. Not a representation of anger but simply to hold things he treasures, e.g. toys, food in his arms and he smiles very sweetly whenever he does that.

During polling day, we brought him to the beach and he had his first encounter with sand. Didn't really like it, maybe because of the scorching sun. Then, a week later in class, he had a chance to play with sand again, this time he enjoys it better. :)

This baby can now activate the apps in my iPhone and close them as and when he likes! The apps he always open are Talking Carl, Baby Dino and the camera (ha, like mother like son! :P).

He's got two new teeth at the top side and I suspect one more emerging from the front. Appetite has not been very good, maybe because of the teething or the flu or is it that he's sick of his food?

He likes to lay around, always saying orh-orh when he does that and would automatically request to go to his bed to sleep when it's time or when he's feeling sleepy. He takes one nap in the day now but sleeps for 11-hr straight from 10pm onwards. :)

He can do somersault on his own and likes to do it while laying down esp when it's time for milk. Just imagine him doing somersaults when milk is brought to him! Ya, milk is still difficult for him!

I've been taking care of him from afternoons since May and I enjoyed the time spent bonding with him. I'm glad to say his gross motor skills and speech improves much to my satisfaction. He's started to take steps and speak more words. I'm going to miss going home to him after lunch when he starts his childcare sessions next month!

6th ROM Wedding Anniversary

It was a surprise for CP. Baby A and I went down to our favourite store at Ngee Ann City to get something for her. Tomorrow, I would be back in-camp so we had to celebrate it a day earlier. CP had no idea. We were very busy these few weeks, much more for CP that she totally forgotten about this occasion.

Baby A is a good friend with the store manager. She kept him busy while I decide on what to get for CP. Anyway, we knew Tracy for a few years now. Sort of like friends rather than customers.

We met CP at Gleneagles, then off we went to Angus Steak House for an early dinner. We quite like the food a few years back, so I suggested it.

Baby A had some of our carrot soup and made a mess ... he even stained his Polo Ralph big time ... Let's hope the bleach works ...

I then had CP opened her present. She was actually disappointed when she saw the pouch ... She didn't need another pouch ...

However, she opened up when she saw what it actually was.

We both had the set. As usual, I had steak, Kagoshima beef to be exact @ $150++.

It was so fatty ... so much fats that I was sick from it halfway through. The fat wasn't evenly marbled ...

On the other hand, CP's cod fish tasted much better. Worth it @ $40++

Nearing the end, Baby A started to get agitated ... spilt milk ...

Fun with Sunglasses

We arrived early for class one Wed and A's class teacher gave him this pair of sunglasses to play with... Wrong move as he couldn't concentrate in the first lesson and kept wanting to play with it.

He is also very fascinated with spectacles, not only sunglasses. At home, he likes to take off and put back his daddy's specs.

He does that to his grandparents too. When they were going out, he'll always reminds them to put on their glasses and then waves and says bye-bye.

Outside, he'll not miss the chance to get me to try on the different shades when he sees one! When we're at LV, I knew we'll be stuck at that department so, very often we'll deliberately not bring him near them unless necessary! :P

Not only Baby likes it, actually, I like to try on glares and shades too! :P Here's me trying out some "unique" ones at some shops:

I don't look good in specs but I just love to put them on every time I accompanied DC for eye testing or change of lens/specs! :P

Mother's Day Presents and Celebration

See my mother's day present from Baby! It's around my neck - my first Mothers' day gift from him. :)

Baby made this necklace for me. :)

1. Cut straws of different colors into small pieces. We had 2 reds 2 green and 2 macaroni.

2. String them together and you'll have a necklace. :) Love it!

DC gave me this bracelet. LVoe it too! :)

For celebration, we went to the porridge place. Might be a wrong choice for my Mum but my Dad enjoyed it most as usual. He was recounting the days where he could finish 12 bowls of porridge throughout the dinner!

A family photo to wrap up the celebration:

Enrolled Baby in childcare

Finally enrolled Baby in a childcare centre today.

It wasn't our intention to send him to a full-day childcare so early, we had no choice. Fortunately, after a 3rd try, we found a centre near the grandparents and arranged to meet up with the teacher-in-charge there. I'm pretty satisfied with the program timetable but not quite the facilities. I can only remind myself that that's the best choice we've had. Hopefully, Baby can get used to the new environment next month!

Week of Mishaps

Seems like last week was not a good week for Baby's classmates! Almost all in his class hurt themselves during the weekend!

Bryan: Cut on right eye and face - He went to see a doc about his cough and was entrusted to a nurse while his mum visit the toilet. When she was back, she was shocked to see him hurt!

Lucas: Burns on finger - He went BBQ and accidentally burnt his finger.

Owen: Stitches on head - He climbed up a double decked bed, fell, knocked on the computer before he reached the ground!

Ok, these are warning to me to be extra vigilant when taking care of Baby!!!

And, of course I shared my bit too on our dreadful experience on the escalator.
