It's time to go out and take some photos with CP, this time at Botanic Gardens ... My arm is aching from carrying the 70-200mm lens during yesterday's shoot.
Anyway, I heard that Botanic Gardens a great place for photo taking. However ... we woke up late ... by the time we reached there, it's already 11:45 a.m. Fortunately, the sky was overcast most of the time but it does get hot at times. It's amazing that there are still quite a lot of people there.
I did get to experiment with some macro shots of flowers and dragonflies though.

Photo taking at Central Mall
This is the first time I signed up for a photo session to photo take a professional model. Costs me $78. I even rented the 70-200mm lens just for this. I've seen many other people doing photo shoots of models and I thought why not. It's something I've never tried before.
The session consists of 7 photographers. The organiser sets up the reflectors for the ambient lighting, so it's pretty much just shoot and experiment with the camera, lenses, techniques. The model is Katya from Russia, very good with poses and eye-contact. Makes shooting so much easier. The ad was placed here at Clubsnap - http://forum.clubsnap.com/showthread.php?t=295870
I think I will sign up for future sessions when I have the time ... and I've fallen in love with the new lens ... just that it's so damn ex ... a 2nd-hand goes for about $2100 ... wow ... that's a bit off the charts ...

Another lovely lens - Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8 VR
Wow, got my hands onto another gem. Possibly the successor to one of the trinity, the AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED. Weighing 1.47 kg, it's slightly heavier than the Trinity 80-200mm F2.8 lens. Gonna use it for photo shoot this weekend. Rental for this lens is at $50, after a 50% discount. What a steal!

Shopping for Quilt
DC and I have always wanted to get a set of new quilt to replace our old one. Last weekend, we happened to pass by Aussino and decided to get a set during its sale. We were presented with a lot of choices. There were Anti-Allergy Polyester Quilt, 7-Hole Polyester Quilt, 9-Hole Polyester Quilt, Cotton Quilt, Premium Silk Quilt and Polyester Quilt that feels like down!!! Wow, we had quite a hard time choosing from the selections but luckily, with the help of the shop assistant, we managed to pick one we think suits us best. :) It was a timely buy, just in time to get cosy as the weather starts to turn cold!

Late night movie - Harry Potter
Sister organised a midnight movie last night at Cathay@AMK Hub. It was a family event, a first for movie-watching. All members of family were present except our parents. Ah boy was there too.
It was an interesting family gathering idea but the movie "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" proved to be not as good as expected. To begin with, I wasn't a fan of the movie series, tiredness got the better of me and Ha! I fell asleep during the supposedly climax of the show! Ah boy was no better than me. After half hour into the show, he told his mother, "Mummy, this show is not nice. I don't want to watch anymore. I'm very tired, can I sleep?"
日本村
Had an enjoyable dinner with my sister and Ah Boy at this Japanese Restaurant 日本村. This restaurant is located in the IRAS building. DC and I didn't expect to see a lot of customers there during weekends but to my surprise, business was so good there that we saw people queueing outside waiting to get into restaurant as we were leaving!
I am actually quite tired of Sakae Sushi, this seems like a good alternative!

Love your lips
I hate the flakes on my lips. In fact, I've tried using the "V" brand lip therapy that is supposed to protect dry chapped lips but it just makes my lips peel more. So, I've decided to search for another lip care product. Found this lovely 3-in-1 candy. I haven't try it out, hope it works! :)
White - Lipstick remover. Doubles as a smoothing, hydrating mask.
Green - Exfoliant. Sloughs off dry, flaky skin.
Pink - Moisturiser. Keeps lips soft and plump.

Photography takes a backseat
Very busy with the new job. Lots of projects coming up. Good exposure but means less time to shoot. Besides, carrying a SLR with a laptop is no feather-weight. But still I bought a Lowepro Compudaypack today, which can fit both a laptop and a SLR.
Back home now, I decided I must find an opportunity to shoot. So it's time to try out the remote control of the external Nikon flash. Oh boy ... makes me want to buy another flash unit ...
D80 kit lens
My trusty Olympus C5060WZ
Nikon SB-800
Just a reason to play with my camera, hehe.

Mango Season
Was told that it is the mango season now.
DC and I have been eating a lot of mangoes lately. We saw really huge mangoes when we were at the supermarket. I didn't know mangoes could be that huge...
Also in the season is the Great Singapore Sale. I saw really huge sales of up to 70% when I was at Mango the boutique at Orchard today. I managed to grabbed a few apparels home.
I love Mango! Be it the fruit or the clothes, they are Satisfaction Guaranteed! :D

On a Bored Saturday Nite
We could not book the tickets for the Transformers movie at 9:20pm. The online ticketing system kept giving me the following error. It was very infuriating.
As an alternative, I decided to go on a late night shopping spree and dragged the tired DC to Orchard after his long day at work. When we got there after dinner at 9:30pm, we saw that all the shops were already closed. It was then that I realised I got the date wrong! Alamak! The late night shopping was on 29 June and not 30 June!
Since shopping is not possible, we tried to find a cafe for a cuppa coffee but everywhere was packed with people! Even the Starbucks and TCC at Plaza Sing was packed as well! We ended up going home empty-handed. It was a wasted trip. :(

Our Art Clock
Our wall clock fell and smashed to bits 3 months ago ... still haven't gotten down to buy a new one till now. This shop was selling art clocks and offered personalisation at a additional $30 for it ... why not ... So I dug out some of my better photos and this is what we came up.
Now is just to wait for the finished product.
