Delicious Lor Mee
Last Sunday, my brother brought sis, DC & me to Bukit Purmei Road for breakfast. He highly recommended the Lor Mee there.
The no-signboard coffeeshop has a number of stalls but there is only one stall with long queue and that's of course the Lor Mee.
Brother queued up for lor mee, DC bought drinks and sis & I ordered some tim sum for all of us.
DC & brother got the $3 bowls, Sis & I got the $2 bowls.
Food presentation is very nice. There are a lot of diced garlic on top, if you don't take garlic then probably you won't appreciate it. Taste is very good too. I find the vinegar a bit too much but guess it really depends on individual, my sis adds an additional spoonful of vinegar and don't find it sour at all! DC thinks they should put more pork or meat inside. Overall, it's GOOD! :)
We did something very bad after we finished the lor mee. We went off before the tim sum came. We had a discussion: Since the stall helpers couldn't be bothered to take our order earlier on, the food variety was so limited (they don't even have the hot favorite prawn dumplings!), service was slow, it was a hot day, we were all perspiring, we have already finished all our food and we were running out of patience... there were just 101 reasons to stop us from eating the tim sum...so, we left.

A Fondue Makeover
Hmm ... when was the last time I tried the fondue at Haagen Daz? Anyway, the menu has undergone a big change and sadly, the price has doubled/ tripled as well for all items. The fondue still look delicious but I will gladly give up all those biscuits ... just give me pure ice-cream anytime. Anyway, the presentation still looks good. Guess it's all about looks these days.

Yes, the Great island-wide sale is now on!
Some of the shops like Robinsons had started their promotions 1 week ago. But why hasn't G2000? I spent $227 at G2000 Junction 8 on 23 May 2007 only to discover on the next day that the sale was on 24 May 2007!!! Why didn't anyone told me earlier??? I could have saved $45!!! Arghhh...

Rare Sight on Bus
Today's bus was crowded and slow. It's not the usual long bus and the roads were exceptionally congested. I managed to get the first seat just behind the bus driver. An elderly Indian lady was sitting beside me on my left and her grandson was standing on my right. The grandson stepped on my feet several times and I was quite annoyed even though I know they were not intentional. Then, he spoke to his grandma in Tamil. I couldn't understand but seeing the lady shift aside, making space between us and motioning him to sit down with her, I assumed he told her that his legs were tired. "Lazy boy", I thought to myself.
He further put me off when he scrambled to sit on the step below our seats. The ladies opposite him all felt very awkward, I could see the look from their faces. Worst of all, he rested his head on the seat between his grandma and me! "What's the problem with him? Don't he know his manners at all?" I started to complain to myself when suddenly I felt his body sliding towards me. Then, his grandma gave a shout in Tamil. I soon realised that he had passed out.
His mother rushed forward from the back of the bus and tried to slap him to his senses. I gave up my seat for him, a lady in front lugged him up to the seat, someone passed a bottle of water from the back for him to drink and the bus driver offered mediated oil. The uncle sitting beside the grandma helped to massage him on his hands and neck. The boy gained his consciousness soon after.
I received a "Thanks" from his mother for giving up my seat. I'm guilty for all the nasty thoughts...If not for the language barrier, I would have known that he is not feeling well and offered him my seat. Now, Who says Singaporeans are not helpful? I say the ones on this bus are the most helpful lot that I've seen! :)
This is truly a strange but interesting bus ride on a morning that I was very late for work!

It's a Small World After All
DC just learnt that his friend's wedding planner is actually our sister-in-law! The couple visited sister-in-law's house today and saw our family photo. That's how they found out. What a coincidence!
It's so unbelievable! We know that the couple has engaged a wedding planner and we know the planner's name. We also know that our sister-in-law is a wedding planner and of course, we know our sister-in-law's name. This is such a simple maths equation... Their wedding planner = Our sister-in-law! I wonder why we did not see this in the first place as both of us are quite a whiz at mathematics. hehe..
She's always full of in her sleeves and never fail to surprise us with her thoughtfulness and creativity. Hmm, I would really love to attend the wedding in July.

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

Our 2nd ROM Anniversary!
We woke up really early in the morning at 5:30am today to send my parents to the airport. They flew to China today. This is already their Nth time to China, they went there almost every year this time since 2003. I think my parents are really blessed... anywayz, my mum looked very happy and excited even though this is not her first trip overseas. Hee hee...
After the send-off, my sis, bro and us went Fortunate Restaurant for some tim sum. It was back to home for rest after the heavy breakfast. That's basically how we spend our 2nd anniversary morning.
At night, we went to the newly opened AMK Hub to jalan jalan. We intended to have our dinner there but oh my God, there were long queues at every restaurants, so we gave up and went to Thai Express at Bishan Junction 8 for dinner instead. Dessert was at Swensens.
Today seems like a normal day (just like last year!). I think we need to create more fun and surprises next year! This is afterall a special occassion for both of us... we should be spending more effort planning and celebrate the occassion. :)
I got DC a present this year... It's 3 sets of cuff links. I'm sure he will like them all! Well, at least the lady at the TANGS wrapping counter does, for she kept repeating to me that my gift to DC is very nice as she was wrapping it up. :)

Mother's Day
We had two good meals this Mothers' Day.
We went Crystal Jade with my mother & family in the morning. The tim sum there was great as usual. :)
Yesterday, we celebrated with mother-in-law & family at brother-in-law's new place. They had cooked up quite a sumptuous dinner for us...I love the seafood soup and salad especially. :) This was also the first time we went to brother-in-law's place. The house was very well renovated.
We had cakes on both celebrations but somehow the cakes didn't turn out to be as good as expected...
Chocolate cake was baked by sister-in-law. It seems that the problem lies in the cake receipe... anyway, I don't really fancy chocolate cakes, the strawberries are good.
Mango cake was bought by sister in a fundraising event for Kota Tinggi Flood victims and she was conned! This was the worst cake I've eaten so far! Ha ha..
Cake pic on the order form. What a great difference!

A Gold Class Experience
Company organised a movie event today right after the Town Hall meeting. Guess where? It's at GV @ VivoCity! There are 2 movies to choose from: Wild Hogs or Spider-man 3. Of course, I choose Spider-man 3! :)
1) The cinema was small & private (all 48 seats booked by my company).
2) The red plush reclining seat was very comfy and spacious.
3) Although the air-con system was overly efficient, GV was thoughtful enough to provide blanket for all.
4) The waiter was polite when he took my order but somehow my beverage was delivered late... I only got it 20 mins into the movie.
5) There is clear view of the screen and no possibility of blockage by people sitting in front.
The best thing is that I get to enjoy the above at no cost at all! The movie is fully sponsored by my company. :) Hope there will be more of such events in the future...
=>Just look at my happy feet! I totally enjoyed this Gold Class experience!
You gotta try it someday too! :)

Bang ...
We were waiting at Bugis Junction ... then a loud bang, like something fell ... looked around, can't see anything ... hoping to see something interesting ... then as we walked towards the office lobby, we saw it ...
