The celebration is over and I think Baby had great fun today! :)
The Theme: Doraemon
We initially wanted the Dinosaurs theme. One night, while we were having extreme fun with A and his toy Doraemon and A was laughing really happily and loudly, an idea struck DC. He suggested the theme "Doraemon". I agreed. Doraemon is the only cartoon character he knows other than Barney.
The Venue: Traders Hotel
We considered quite a lot of places and decided on Traders Hotel. Did a few rounds of negotiation with the hotel and was satisfied with the package they provided.
The Food:
Food was catered by the hotel, probably by Ah Hoi's Kitchen. We added one more staple to the menu. Was satisfied with the food that day.
The Invitation:
An e-card was created and invitation was sent out in prints and in FB event page to relatives and friends. Emails, SMSes and phone calls were also used to inform relatives and friends about the event.
The Party Favors:
This was the difficult part. We had trouble searching for suitable Doraemon stuffs to give out to the children! Went Chinatown Point and Harbourfront Centre's Doraemon shops and only managed to find some Doraemon erasers. We also bought a lot of Doraemon wrapping papers and wanted to diy to make the party bag. Then, we saw a Doraemon pouch on the way home and they were sooo cute that DC decided to grab them and use them as the carrier instead! :) These pouches are hot favorite even for adults! :)
Along with the Doraemon pouch and erasers, we also have Doraemon stickers, biscuits, lollipops, burger gummies and clappers.
The Decoration: Banners and Balloons
I bought a banner that says Happy Birthday and printed a picture of Doraemon and inserted it in the middle.
Doraemon balloons cannot be found in Singapore, not even in HK, so I engaged a balloonist to sculpture Doraemon balloons for every table. The white, light blue and dark blue balloons were provided by the hotel. I bought a round balloon with the words happy birthday on and got the hotel to help pump it, for free.
The Entertainment: Photo Slideshow, Photo Booth, Balloonist and Doraemon movie
We played Baby's photos on a projection screen throughout the lunch.
We had a photo booth in the function room where the guests could take unlimited photos for 2 hours. This was a hot favorite for DC's company's X'mas party every year. We thought it's a good idea to have it for Baby's party too!
We also had a balloonist to do balloon sculpturing for the kids and the kids loved it.
Doraemon movie was played after the cake cutting session.
The Birthday Cake: Doraemon Cake!
Thanks to both my sisters for ordering, collecting and sponsoring the cake. Love the cake! :)
It's a pity the cut pieces came out a bit late. Some guests went back already.
The Presents:
Thanks all for attending the party and your generous gifts! Hope you enjoy yourselves as much as we did!

Hi there,
May i know where you bought the Doraemon wrapping paper? I went to many shops in Singapore but was futile.
Thank you
Sogg
We bought it at a shop in Harbourfront, 1st level near the Arrival hall.
There are two other Doraemon shops in Chinatown Point and Suntec 3rd level near Toys r Us.
If you are talking about the goodie packs in Doraemon pouches, we bought it at a pushcart in Suntec outside Carrefour ... but it seemed to have moved.
Awesome.
Hihi,
Your doraemon cake looks nice. May I know which bakery it's from?
Thanks thanks
It's from Polar Cakes.
Hi,
I also like the idea of a Doremon theme based party for my son's birthday. Could you let me know how did you create the invite with all the doremon pics in the background? Did you use any editing software or just got this done from some designer?
Thanks
Nitin
Hi Nitin, it can be found on the web.
