A Belated Post - Our HK Trip

I know this post is rather overdue but it's always better late than never right? :P

Here it goes.... A & B's first overseas mega family trip!

We were a total of 15 people, hehe DC and I thought it was best to gather as much people to go on the trip with us in case we needed help with our two kiddos. It was after all our first overseas trip with them and we didn't know what to expect!

God truly blesses, they were angels on the plane and throughout the holiday! On the other hand, I felt we (DC and I) were the devils as there were a day or two they had to miss their naps or nap on the go so that we could cover more places of interest (to us)! Haha...

On the first day, we checked into our respective hotels. My family preferred to stay in the Tsim Sha Tsui area but we opted for the HK Disneyland hotel with my in-laws. We rested in the hotel for a while before we went to Citygate Outlets for dinner and then shopped around. The place was quite a disappointment. We found nothing there. DC wanted to get a pair of Timberland shoes but there was no stock for his shoe size.

A and B, however, did have a brief moment of fun at a kids shop there:

On the second day, we went for dim sum with the whole gang at the Tim Ho Wan at Olympic City 2. Wow! It was crowded! We came later, but luckily my family got a queue number for us. So, we didn't wait too long for a table. The food there was nice but they did not have high chairs. In our next few days of stay, we realized that HK eating places were not really baby friendly. Although some restaurants did have high chairs, the chairs were for bigger child. There was no seat belt and the chair was open with no safety guards. :(
Pic above: Just look at the crowd!

After dim sum, we went shopping, this time we found something - shoes for A, B and me. :) Then we walked to and around Mongkok...

Pic above: my A and B with their aunts in their matching clothes...

At night, we met up my aunt and uncle who came specially to meet up from China, at a restaurant that DC and I recommended for dinner. We had a delicious meal there the previous time DC and I were there and so recommended this place. We were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant had earned themselves a Michelin star since then! We had a great feast there...

Pic above: That's the restaurant with my favorite suckling pig!

After that, DC went to meet his HK friend and they went on a camera hunt with A, B and me. I regretted tagging along. Instead, I should have gone back hotel with my in-laws. Should have let DC have the time with his friend, a good chat over a cuppa coffee or tea at least. Knowing that the kids were tired, the good father decided to return to the hotel.

On the third day, we spent the day in Disneyland. A enjoyed the rides a lot, to our surprise! B was still young, she was scared with some of the rides with sudden sound effects and moving props. Disneyland was still as enjoyable to DC and me, even with the kids! And, the fireworks at 8pm was still as amazing! :)

The next day, we gathered for breakfast at the airport. We were disappointed that the restaurant we wanted to go is closed for renovation and we had to go for alternative. The restaurant we ended up going to was not too bad (I mean food, the service actually sucks).

And then, we were off to take the plane back home! A slept almost throughout the plane ride and B, before the ride... it was a rather hassle-free ride back for us. :)

Seeing how they enjoy this holiday, we are now seriously thinking if we want to go back to Disneyland for our next holiday trip!

My Cuties

Just a cute little picture of my A & B standing together.

It was difficult to capture my kids in one photo as they were always running around!

We were attending a birthday celebration this day and the kids were exploring the perimeter of the venue, a bungalow.  This photo was taken in a very brief moment by DC, right after I placed them against the wall.

*Snap*, *Snap*, *Snap*! I didn't know how many photos DC snapped but I'm happy to see this amongst all!

Simple background with my two lovely, smiley (and cheeky) kids in the foreground... This photo could bring a smile on me anytime when I look at it! :)

Enya's 1st Birthday

My brother held a fantastic celebration of her 2nd daughter's 1st birthday yesterday.

We had a great time there. A was busy exploring the place and B happy seeing the gigantic Hello Kitty (her favorite character!) balloons.

A is 3 years and 9 months

A, my cheeky boy is still as active. He was always busy running round the place, exploring every corner and coming back to you to let you know what he's up to! :)

He loves a Mickey Mouse cartoon recently. It's just that one and no other. Simply because the cartoon revolves around car! Well, that's my boy's greatest interest after all, no wonder he loves that! He would request for it to be shown to him every day before and after his shower time.

This boy picked up a word that I might have always used on my parents during our recent HK trip... and that's "Mai" (means No in hokkien). Now, whenever he remembers he would say that! Haha, it's quite unexpected that he'll pick up a dialect word, this is probably the first dialect he had said!

He now calls his father "Daddy" instead of "Papa". This is esp when he required attention from DC or when DC didn't bother about him. He also learnt to pretend to cry (and sometimes real tears would turn up) when he didn't get the things he wanted. Now, that's not a very good trick to use as his daddy sometimes won't buy that!

While DC was away for his business trip for about a week, A enjoyed very much the company of his aunts, uncle and grandparents and the rides with them to and from home! I was glad that he did behave himself well when DC was away. There was however an occasion that quite shocked me. He threw a big tantrum over 4 plasters at night, after DC left for Shanghai. I never seen him so angry before. I guess he could be feeling sad that he couldn't see DC for a while.

He still decides what both he and his dad should wear during the weekends. Instead of only the top, he also wants the bottom to be the same as his daddy. E.g. berms with zip and similar colour or jeans. He also decides what shoes DC should wear, whether it's a similar colored track shoes they both had or sandals. Haha, that only applies to DC, I'm glad I didn't get that from him.

This month, he went to a school outing to the Botanic Gardens and 3 birthday celebrations (Hector's 1st birthday, Enya's 1st birthday and Mum's birthday treat to Yiyi). He's still loving the birthday song and claps along! :)

B is 16 months old

My B is very playful now! She rather be walking, roaming every corner of the house, climbing up and down than be carried...

She giggles quite readily esp if she feels she caught your sight.

Her favorite words, in addition to "No", are "Okay" and "Yes". She's often imitating her brother and us and would surprise me sometimes. Eg last week, she repeated after her brother's "直直走" when we were on the straight road to home!

She's more willing to be hugged by adults other than me and DC. My dad was the first to discover the trick... she's sure to wrap her arms round him whenever he told her that he had "Mum Mum" (food) for her. Yes, she's quite a glutton! :)

When DC was not away for almost a week, I had help from my family and the common comment about B was that she was very active and agile, like a monkey and difficult to be held still! Haha, yes she was quite difficult to handle now... she was a curious little monkey! Everything to her (esp what her brother was doing) was very interesting to her!

She loves to sit on the battery operated cars and refused to get out. That was quite different from her brother!

She wants to choose the shoes she wear (sometimes she'll choose kitty, sometimes minnie, sometimes strawberry). Now she doesn't fuss up when I took out her shoes, instead she expects her shoes to be taken off when she reached home. At night or outside, she only wants one type of hair clip - her Hello Kitty hair clips! That's quite a waste because I bought her lots of hair clips! I heard from the baby sitter that she chooses her dresses too...

This month, she has been to a number of birthday parties, her cousin Hector's 1st birthday party, her cousin Enya's 1st birthday party and Mummy's birthday treat to Yiyi. She loves parties, she loves to blow candles!

Now that she almost recovered from her one month long flu, I hope she don't passed it to her brother!

RIP Huang Wenyong

Shocking news! The TCS actor has passed away because of cancer?! It's so sudden and unbelievable! I couldn't believe my eyes when my sis sent me the news of his passing.

He was such a well-loved and experienced actor and still young (at 60) and could still contribute much more to the entertainment industry! What a pity!

May you rest in peace, 黄文永!

Not alone

DC was back from his business trip in Shanghai and he reached home at 2am this (Sat) morning. He was away for 5.5 days!

And me? I was left with the two kiddos!

I was never alone with them previously, not even for 1 day and when I knew I had to look after them for 5.5 days, I was not confident that I could cope! The timing was bad as B was down with flu and needed attention (and nebuliser)!

Fortunately, help was within reach, just a call away!

During the days that DC was away, I got generous help from my family. (I wouldn't know what to do without them, big thanks!)

They took turns to send me to work, fetch my kids and look after them while I was showering... (yeah, I know I was very fortunate!)

A and B were happy to see them too! A loved to "drive" with 公公, eat "Jiajia"'s breakfast, sit in small 姨姨 & Ah Gu's cars, sleep and play with big 姨姨! B loved their presence too!

I love my FAMILY! They made my job really easy those days! *Muazk!*

Now that DC is back after enjoying his "freedom" for the past work week, I hope he wasn't reluctant to come back to resume his duties! :) After all, parental duties are tough.

One thing I know, he really missed his kids and they missed him too! This morning when they first saw him, they were all smiles, esp A! He kept smiling, kept calling "Papa" and kept sticking to him like bees to honey!

Good to see you back, honey! :)

B is 15 months

Her favorite word is probably "No" now. Everything that I asked her to do, she'll say "No"! This is especially when I want to carry her! Otherwise, she was quite a sweetie and would always ask for "Mummy" :)

Since in HK, she would always ask to go down and walk. When I didn't allow, she'll struggle and try her ways to get down! That's quite tiring for me... I'll most often end up giving up and hold her hands while she walked.

It was her first time in HK and we're happy that she cope very well there. However, she did fear some of the rides at Disneyland e.g. Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World and the mascots. In this trip, she also saw for the first time, aeroplane and Mickey Mouse. :) She calls Mickey Mouse "Mi Mi Mi", haha...

For 2 weeks already, she started saying sentences in her baby language. It sounded so much like what A used to be saying!

She slept later now (at about 10.30pm) and during the weekends, she napped only once (twice at the nanny's place). She asked to sleep with Daddy and Mummy on their bed at night and would try her every means to get herself on the bed and slumped on the pillow. We disallow that and wanted her to sleep in her own cot. However, I will bring her into the bedroom if she woke up at night. She is still drinking the same amount of milk (150-240ml).

She was able to greet everybody in the family now, from grandparents, parents to aunts and uncles. However, she still didn't like people to carry her except for me and DC.

She adapts well to the new home too. She loves to roam around the house, including the kitchen where she was banned from entering. She was very playful and I like her laughter. Not as wide mouthed and contagious like A but very loud and hearty too! :) At home, her playing companion is her brother and she loves to snatch her Gor Gor's play things! And when her Gor Gor bullies her, she knows how to say "Pain Pain" by pointing to her body.

She now had a mind of her own. She may not accept every song or video that I played to her and sometimes, she'll request for the songs she wanted, e.g. by putting her hands over her mouth, she means she wants to hear the song "Ten Little Indians", by saying "Mi Mi Mi", she wants the Mickey Mouse song, etc.

She loves to eat and that's the only thing that could make her sit down in her car seat during long journeys!

She acts like a mini adult now, I'm not sure if that's influenced by her brother. She wants to carry her bag, she wants her shoes on and she wants to wear hairpins on her head! Since this week, every night she'll ask for her favorite hello kitty hair clips before sleep!

My sweetie is now coughing very badly. In fact, a week after we came back from HK. It's been about 2 weeks now and yesterday she vomited after every meal! :( We bought her to the doctor's today. She had to be on nebuliser.  Hope she gets better soon!

R (Hoult) is a zombie. After eating the brain of a suicidal teen, R is overcome with love for the teen's companion, Julie Grigio (Palmer). He rescues Julie from death by his zombie pack and takes her back to his lair. Haha, this is quite a fresh storyline... the actors and actress are nice looking!

A is 3 years and 8 months

Gosh, I know I'm really late for this month's update... Here is A's.

We brought A to HK for the first time! It was the first time he sat on a plane and he loved it! To think that I was worried that he might not be able to take the changes in air pressure!

He was also very well behaved during the holiday. No fuss at all.

The most surprising thing in HK was that he enjoyed the rides at Disneyland! Was this the same boy who refused to sit on the automated rides at the malls? I was delighted that he was excited about them!

One thing though, the travelling around is too hectic for them. We only managed short naps in between and sometimes, the kids had to sleep on our shoulders! Otherwise, it was an quite an eye opener for him! :)

Back home, while we were packing, he had fun with his sister with the paper boxes. He was not around on the day we moved but we brought him back to the empty house 2 times. The first time, he was surprised and went around the rooms and said, "No more bed, No more table, No more..." It became his spacious playground immediately...

Over at the new home, he spent a while exploring the whole place and running around the house while we unpacked... We were glad that he didn't reject the new place at all.

My sister came by one day and he actually requested for the other yiyi to come the next day! :) Now, he differentiates both Yiyi by their "rank", i.e. big yiyi, small yiyi. Just like what Ah Boy did. :)

In school, the teacher commented that he was very sensible and co-corporative. His speech improved too. Now, he could articulate more. :)

You could often see him playing and pretending to be on his phone! The things he said just make me laugh sometimes, he was acting like his father! Haha...

Another thing that loves to play was to put on DC's shoes. They look big and funny on him!

Just a few days ago, he pointed to a car and said "Papa's car car, Big car car!". Oh my, he could tell the difference between VW's Touran (what we are driving now) and Sharan (the big one!)! I was speechless and so amazed by his keen eyes!

At home, he was independent and always wanting to eat by himself and wear his clothes by himself.

My boy is definitely growing, more and more lovable each day! :)
