Dating 13 yrs and Children's Day

9-Oct was the day and it fell closely with the Children's Day holiday on 7-Oct this year. I decided to arrange a room at Conrad Centennial for a weekend getaway. There was a free upgrade to executive floor from our previous stay in Feb.

After check-in, we had afternoon tea at Marina Mandarin Atrium Lounge just across the road.

We couldn't keep up with our boy. He was exploring everywhere!

Dinner was at the Szechuan Court, Fairmont Hotel in the vicinity. My parents also joined us. Aaron was so happy to see them!

That night, Aaron slept with us. It's a pity kids under age of 12 are not allowed into the Executive Lounge. I did managed a quick trip up to have a bourbon coke before my sleep though. Drinks and finger food are free!

Wedding Anniversary 2011

For this year's anniversary, we thought we could give Conrad Centennial a try. Booking through the telephone turns up better pricing than my company's corporate rates, $333++ inclusive of breakfast and late check-out at 3 p.m. Not bad at all.

Once again, before checking in, I had tired myself cleaning up the home. It seemed a ritual, to leave the home in a pristine condition and come back still relatively clean.

Baby had a little nap so we checked in at 3 p.m. instead of 2. We had a corner room all the way at the end of the walkway. Quite comfy, nice and spacious. The bed was a bit tall though, even for me. Some of our other gripes were the baby cot was too small, shaving kit and comb had to be requested. On a positive note, DVD player is available, something we found was installed only in Oriental and Ritz Carlton so far. Of cousre, we got the Conrad bear, two in fact.

No swimming as the sky was getting overcast. Dinner was at Oscars in the hotel. It was an awesome spread with five varieties of oysters. I only dared to try two, for fear of diarrhoea.

Busy Saturday Starts with Dim Sum

Yep, it's a packed Saturday. We had dim sum at Golden Peony. A very nice setting they have at Golden Peony. The dim sum are also delicate and not too overpowering on the tastebuds.

Table settings

Very nice fried beancurd with sweet sauce.

Baby A also had his lunch there. Of course, he gets to sample the dim sum too!

Weekend Stay at Pan Pacific

To celebrate our 5th ROM anniversary, we decided to check in to Pan Pacific hotel at Marina. It's also a good break after my reservist duties and make up the time lost with Baby A :)

We had almost tried all the hotels in the Marina area, like Fairmont, Swissotel, Oriental and Ritz Carlton. Pan Pacific sounds like a logical choice as we wanted to stay in this area and it has high floors, which hopefully offer a scenic view.

Did manage to bring my tripod along this time. The landscape kept changing over the years. This year, the Marina Bay Resorts came into operation.

As usual, after check-in, it's off to Marvelous Cream at Citylink Mall. Baby finally get to see what Mum and Dad are crazy about :)

20100528-D80-24

We didn't like the food at Global Kitchen in Pan Pacific so we decided to hop over to Oscar's at Conrad Centennial next door. We had quite a good experience last time we went there.

Again, the food didn't disappoint. Managed to snap a few shots before I were stopped by one of the staff.

20100528-EPL1-07

I realised that it's never easy to take photos with babies. They never look towards the camera. Hehe, only Mum and Dad were smiling.

20100528-EPL1-24

Couldn't pass up the opportunity for a night show from the room.

20100528-D80-37

Baby A seemed to enjoy himself as usual.

20100529-EPL1-05

He didn't get left out. He had a nice porridge with freshly mashed banana for breakfast.

Well, although we did enjoy the time together, we couldn't really say the same for the room and service at Pan Pacific itself. The door to the bathroom is lourved, so the noise from the shower disturbed Baby's sleep. We asked for a baby high chair but it never came. There's no shaving kit for me ... Room is smaller than Ritz, Fairmont and Swissotel. Calls to the Service Desk are not picked up immediately but placed on hold. Guess we won't be going back in the future ...

Nov Celebration 6 - Lobby Lounge Conrad

To round off the Nov celebrations, I decided that we should go for some afternoon tea. I'm glad we chose the Lobby Lounge at Conrad Centennial Hotel.

They really do offer a wide selection of green, black and "mixed" teas to go with your pastries. I chose the green "Chun Mee" while CP had the "Singapore Sling" tea. The tea comes in a "Sleeping Teapot". You let it "sleep" if you want your tea stronger, let it stand if you prefer a milder taste.
