Yes, how can we forget the taste. Dome always serve the best iced latte. Most consistent taste. They have great tiramisu.
This one's from Spageddies.
These people sure know their stuff. I think Prego's tiramisu is fantastic too but I can't remember the taste ... it's too far back ...

Canele
We met up with a friend recently, someone whom we had not seen for about 2 years. She is someone who always patronise these "non-contemporary" cafes. Yep, no boring TCC or Coffee Club.
So we followed her to Canele at Raffles City Shopping Center. Dinner was nothing fantastic. Service wasn't that good. It was slow and somehow, u don't really feel welcome there ...
Since this is a so-called pâtisserie, of coure we must try the cakes. We ordered a Gateaux Chocolate, Tiramisu and cheese cake.
The cheese cake wasn't outstanding ... both in terms of taste and outlook ... what do you expect a cheese cake to look like ... ?
The Gateaux Chocolate looks rich. I thought I must have it. Disappointing ... I guess it boils down to personal preference. I would prefer a more moist texture. Too creamy, doesn't melt in the mouth.
The Tiramisu is much better.
It is at this moment that our friend mentioned that she like the Starbucks tiramisu, the one where it was still served in a cup. Apparently, that was supplied by Dome.
(This pic doesn't do justice to its goodness)
Starbucks supplier of cakes has since changed to Bakerzin, no wonder you can get Chocolate Amer at Starbucks now. The tiramisu isn't as good. Well, there's always a trade-off.

Sis birthday
Sis's birthday was a few days ago... she treated us to dinner at the nearby park. It's her birthday yet she gave us a treat, so DC and I asked her out for dinner to TCC tonight, our turn to treat her.
The card on the left was made by Ah Boy. He had asked his mummy to teach him how to write the words "姨姨" on the card. That dog-like creature on the card is supposed to be "姨姨" - the Birthday Girl! Hahaaa.... so cute!

New Blog Theme
DC and I had such great time at Japan that we wished we could have stayed there a little longer! We missed everything there... the romantic cherry blossoms, the vast variety of ice-creams, the wonderful bento sets, the fresh sashimi and the thrilling rides at the theme parks!!! I knew I just have to put our Japan vacation pic on our blog header and nothing suits better than to have Pink as the background colour... Japanese are kawaii and cherry blossoms are romantic, just what the colour Pink symbolises.
On the blog header:
From left,
Sashimi, Kiyomizudera (Pure Water Temple), Kaminarimon, Disney castle, ice-cream, Golden Pavilion and us with cherry blossom tree as backdrop.

Back from Nihon!
Wohoo! We're back from the Land of the Rising Sun! :)
The trip was superb! We survived the 10 deg cold weather, heart-throbbing rides at three theme parks, the sophisticated transportation system and language barrier while we were in Japan, what an achievement! :)
We actually brought our laptop to Japan, thinking of blogging on the move. Didn't manage to accomplish this mission though! :P Hope to get them all done up this week.
[Edit on 23 Apr: The posts are up on our travel blog and pictures are up in flickr. Enjoy!]

21 GB of memory to Japan
Just brought in a 8GB SDHC, 4GB SD memory cards and a 4GB Sony M2 memory stick.
That means a total of 21GB of memory storage space just for photos! Let's hope it will hold out. Anyway, after taking photos for quite some time, I think it's time to think before shooting. Shoot less but higher quality.

Got rid of the lemon
Finally, got rid of the LCD Digital Photo frame. Filed a claim with the Small Claims Tribunal. The Registrar had this for the company: It does not matter what is the warranty policy, what matters is that she sold me a non-working product. In the end, we settled on 50% of the product cost to be refunded to me. It's not a lot but it feels good to let these people know that they cannot ride roughshod over us consumers.
The lady boss had the misconception that consumers had to pay $50 to file a claim. She was wrong, it's only $10 and $5 to retrieve the company profile document. I think after this experience, she will not be so cocky. To think that she called me "fortunate" to have bought a faulty product. Now I wonder who's the lucky one.
She is really "lucky" to have met me. Ha ...

Live Seafood at 镇发
We enjoyed a very hearty meal at 镇发 Live Seafood, thanks to Sis. It's her birthday treat though its a little too early. Nevertheless, the whole family indulged ourselves in the BBQ meat and steamboat.
First, get the free live prawns and crabs...
P.S. See DC with a prawn, still alive and kicking!
Second, Make your Choice...
- Seafood or Meat or both
- BBQ by Self or Staff or both
Then, settle for the desert. Ah Boy had a great time there... See how happy he was munching on the chocolate mashmallow!
Our only complaints are that the seats are too cramp and their service is really no good!

New tripod - Just right for travelling
I hope so ... the weight of photo tripods are really back-breaking. So I got this, the Manfrotto 715B Digi Mini Tripod. It can suport the weight of my dSLR quite comfortably. Anyway, I plan to use it for the Disney's fireworks. The aim is to travel light.

My welfare comm 1st event - Success
Yeah, I'm officially in the welfare committee and the very first event to organise is... a farewell! It's a fairly simple affair, we bought some cakes and puffs, grapes and strawberries and gathered all into the meeting room for tea break. During the session, we presented the gift and screened a video specially prepared for him (song chosen by me!). Of course, what's a farewell party without thank-you speech? =) I took the role of videographer and recorded his touching speech. The first event was a success! Let's just hope that the next event (coming soon) runs smoothly.
