Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature Gollum. Alone with Gollum on the shores of an underground lake, Bilbo not only discovers surprising depths of guile and courage, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities...

DC and I have both read this book years ago and we love the movie trilogy "The Lord of the Rings". We wouldn't want to miss this related movie! This movie has been showing for quite a while already, we finally found time to watch this together! :)
All I can say is that this movie did not disappoint at all... all the familiar characters, scenes, creatures and the "ring" that were found in the earlier movies were seen in movie. I love the magnificent view of the New Zealand! It was however, a disappointment to know that after approx 3 long hours, the story has not ended... and there's a part 2 to the movie! (It's just like the local production "Ah Boys to Men"!) :( We feel they should have trimmed it to 2 hours if there are going to be 2 episodes!
