Finally, we have a day to ourselves, CP and me. The highlight was lunch at Iggy's. They had moved to Hilton hotel since we last dined there. Iggy's is now No. 25th on World's 50 Best Restaurants and No. 1 on Miele Guide. We went expecting a great dining experience.
Eel parfait with caviar - Excellent. This was not on the menu and I think it depends on what comes to the chef's mind that day.
GILLARDEAU OYSTER with sago pearls, wakame, buckwheat - Fresh with a tinge of the sea. I gobbled it down in no time.
SALMON with orange, savoy cabbage, basil seeds
Focaccia bread - Disappointing. Served cold and rubbery ...
FOIE GRAS with chawanmushi, shimeji, poultry jus
CAPELLINI with sakura ebi, konbu, shellfish oil
WAGYU CHEEK with spring vegetables, pinot noir jus
DUCK with lentils, beetroot, orange - Fried to a crisp!
PEANUT ice-cream with green apple, celery, puffed rice - I enjoyed this very much! The sweet rice crackers and ice-cream blends quite well with the sour green apple slices.
SPICY MANGO with greek yoghurt, lime, white sesame - CP didn't like this. I'm sure mine tasted better :)
The $15++ tea. I wasn't too happy about this, slightly caught off-guard as I expected coffee and tea to be included with the set lunch.
The $8++ coffee. We didn't finish as we were rushing for time.
CP had a busy time taking pictures of all these artworks.
Overall, we felt it wasn't as good as 2 yrs back. Most of the dishes had rock salt sprinkled on, even the butter for bread. I don't think it was necessarily. We would rather enjoy the ingredients in their original flavours, with minimal seasoning.
After lunch, we caught the Avengers movie! At long last :D
