Halloween night. Got myself a pirate kit in return for a donation to charity at my company. Went to TCC at International Building to soak in the atmosphere.
CP doesn't look piratey at all.
This time round, I think more effort has been put into the makeup and costumes. Good stuff!

Seoul Searching
Yeah! Finally, we've decided on our next destination after laying down all the options that we have. :)
It's going to be Seoul, Hong Kong and Macau - 3 places in 8 days this time compared to the previous trip where we visited 3 Japanese states in 6 days! You may ask: "Why Seoul, it was not even in the picture earlier when we discussed?" Blessed DC saw a very attractive Seoul/Hong Kong package that we can't miss! We thought it would be a waste if we leave Macau out of the travel plans since it was so near to Hong Kong and so, Seoul and Macau came onboard our plan! :)
Status as of now:
Air tickets secured and confirmed.
Hotel in Seoul and Hong Kong booked and confirmed.
Additional nights stay in Hong Kong sent over, pending confirmation.
I did some serious "seoul"-searching over the weekend and was busy planning the itinerary during the week. It's getting more and more exciting as the days draw nearer! Esp. when a couple of colleagues who just got back from Seoul told me it was fun...I wish I'm at Seoul now! :)

Went Teambuilding @ Sentosa
It was an "adventure" programme and a fun one! At the end of the day, we were exhausted and lots of sweat as there were a number of outdoor adventure games but we were satisfied and proud of ourselves for completing the programme! WoHoo!
Loads of fun and joy too.
It's really good to have a day off doing team building once in a while. However, after such a long break from office (Fri:Off-site meeting, Mon:Deepavali Holiday, Tue: Teambuilding), I had to work harder to combat the Back-to-Office-after-Long-Break blues!

Games, Babes and Xbox 360
There is some event going on at Marina Square, a Xbox 360 game fest launch. Although I saw many favourite game titles like Gears of War 2, Fable 2 and Fallout 3, I manage to resist buying. Let's wait for 2nd-hand ... hehe.
On stage were teams blasting out their hits in a Xbox song competition, complete with drums and guitars.
Not forgetting the babes there ... here's one.

What's New?
The blog header has been changed to mark our 10 years of togetherness. :D There were many other pictures we'd taken together but those that appeared on the header were specially picked because they either bear the special moments that we shared together or they are significant milestones of our 10-year-old relationship.
A few minor changes has been made to the header after it was put up. DC had some comments about one pic. I replaced it with another one and added some light arrows in the direction of the years in increasing order. This was like the 4th version and though it didn't come out the way I first want it to be, I guess it was still quite okay for a personal blog.

Bird song
This repeated soft-to-loud, short bursts of sounds... DC and I often wonder what kind of a bird makes this tune and what message it is trying to convey.
Guess we must have heard this ample times without even realising that the tune had secretly left an imprint on our minds. One morning years ago, DC woke me up by singing to the tune "起来了!起来了!起来了!..." (means Wake up, Wake up, Wake up...). For quite a while that day, we tried to recall where we heard the tune from and slowly figured out that it was from that bird, and from that moment on, that tune became my occassional "morning alarm" (activated by DC of course, hehe).
It has been a long long time since we last heard the bird song. Recently, we began hearing it again from all over - home, Orchard Rd, everywhere. I was at home yesterday and heard it again. I knew I just had to record it down! :)

Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha
This is another place you can go to if you wish to have Bak Kut Teh. DC brought me to this very popular coffee shop at Keppel Road for lunch today. The place was so crowded with people that it took us quite a while to get seats.
The kidneys and livers were tender and the soup tasty but the soup bowl was rather small - Wonder if soup can be refilled? Because it was lunch time, we had to gobble the food so that we could go back to work in time (go back to training in DC's case). In the haste, we didn't even count the change they returned to us... and when we realised it, we found ourselves $11 richer! Ha!

Icekimo
Tucked quietly in the corner of Sim Ming Road is this cozy place for ice-cream. Always wanted to try out the ice-creams there but always forgot. Since DC and I were around the area last Sunday, we decided to just give it a try even though we were all full from the duck rice lunch with my parents.
The interior - Very Pink, I wonder if it was set up by a lady who adores the colour pink?
The ice-creams - They have some rather unique flavours. We had Bailey with Chocolate for him and Blueberry cheesecake with D24 Durian for her. Yummy! The cheesecake flavour was very nice.
They also offer free flow of ice water (you have to get it yourself) and magazines. We were 'forced' to stay there longer than expected as the rain decided to fall really heavily shortly after we arrived. One thing bad is that there are no shelters to the main road and no cabs pass by the area. So, we were stucked there for quite a while.
What an creamy experience! :) I like to return for more next time...

Simply Full and Sinful
DC and I have been going to restaurants for dinner almost daily this month. We felt really really sinful and guilty about it now! Judging from the calorie-filled meals that we'd taken in, I guess our Tree Top walk was totally wasted? It's time for a serious workout!

Chicken in the City
I was quite surprised to find that someone has been rearing chickens (not one but many!) at the back of a coffee shop. Quite a rare sight in a city!
Now, I have a problem... Which are the roosters and which are the hens? How do you tell them apart besides the fact that only hens lay eggs? Being a city girl all my life, I thought only a rooster has comb and a hen doesn't. But, DC, my sis and Ah Boy all claimed that the roosters are the reddish and the hens are the white ones. So, who was right?

The Coffin Challenge - Dare to Take up?
We were at Cathay Cineleisure yesterday when we saw a long long queue. Being natural Singaporean, we decided to check it out.
So, there was a marketing gimmick going on. In conjunction with the release of the Thai horror film "The Coffin", the organisers are getting people to step into a coffin for 3 seconds, have a taste of laying inside one (while alive) and strike a pose to win a pair of movie tickets.
It's spooky to imagine that this is an actual Thai ritual that is getting popular in Thailand to get rid of bad luck and prolong life!
The tickets (cinema tickets for the premier gala and toto tickets for good luck) will be given to the first 100 couragous person who dared to take up the challenge and the selected 'one' with the best pose will walk away with $500 worth of DVDs from Scoporio East!
I thought it was quite fun and took a queue number... No. 83 (Pic above) but decided to back out. :P
Anyways, here's some pictures for viewing. We have:
People who brought along their props with them into the coffin - book, shades, bag and cash... Hmm, I remembered one brought her Coca Cola into the coffin...
People who just laid there (boring)
People who did a flip in the coffin & turned their backs
People who don't know what pose to strike
Other poses
Hmm, if I were in there, I would probably bring out my signature "V". Hehe... :D

Max Payne & Burn After Reading
MAX PAYNE
Rating: PG
Consumer Advice: Some violence
Genre: Action-Thriller
Language: English
Subtitles: Chinese
Director: John Moore
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Chris O’Donnell, Beau Bridges, Ludacris, Mila Kunis, Donal Logue, Amaury Nolasco
Run Time: 100mins
Based on the legendary, hard-hitting interactive video game, MAX PAYNE tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max (Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.
In CP's words:
This has always been in DC's movies-to-watch list. He was one game-lover and played this video game before. According to him, some of the scenes in the movie were from the game: the bullets dodge, the lab and the drug bottles Valkyr, etc. I find the plots familiar (e.g. the bullet time in Matrix and the winged creature looks like the god in Death Note) although there were suspense in the story. I also think that the tattoo of wings looks nice. :)
This is also the first show I could go washroom without fearing that I would miss out on anything. That's because there is an attached washroom in the Cathay threatre itself and I could hear the dialogues loud and clear inside! Cool!
Do also stay through the long credits if you are not in a hurry!
BURN AFTER READING
Rating: NC16
Consumer Advice: Some Violence & Coarse Language
Language: English with no subtitles
Director: Ethan Coen, Joel Coen
Main Cast: George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and Brad Pitt
Runtime: 95mins
Osbourne Cox is a CIA operative struggling to stay afloat. His job and marriage are going nowhere, and he's got a drinking problem to boot. Harry Pfarrer (Clooney) is a Treasury Department marshal who can't stop tripping over his own vanity. His hobbies include internet-dating behind his wife's back and building homemade sex toys in this basement, not to mention sleeping with Osbourne's dissatisfied wife. When Ozzie gets fired from the Agency, he decides to write a tell-all memoir, blissfully unaware that he doesn't have much to tell. However, a draft ends up in the hands of Harry's other love, harebrained Hardbodies gym employee Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand), and her dopey colleague Chad Feldheimer (Pitt). Convinced they've tapped into classified information, they see this as the perfect opportunity to make some serious cash, and they bring their discovery straight to the Russians! Instantly, affairs of love and state become absurdly entangled, and nobody knows who to trust or what to believe - least of all, the "brilliant" minds at the CIA, who lead us to ask: just how intelligent is Central Intelligence?
In CP's words:
This is quite an arty film. It is rather funny too, with weird characters that makes the story interesting. Brad Pitt is soooo cute and cartoon in the film! He's such an idiot but I like! :P At the end of the show, the guys suffered miserably (all shot dead and one becoming paranoid and fearful of "spy") but the ladies were lucky to have "got away" unharmed with what they want (the divorces and plastic surgery I assume?)...
So, what can we learnt from the movie? "Intelligence is crooked, but stupidity is honest"? Just like what Joel Coen (one of the directors) had said, this film is "something big and bombastic, something important sounding but absolutely meaningless"!! That's how cleverly it is made - seemingly meaningless but yet bore a mocking statement about the dark side of human behaviour and about the CIA!

The Art of Exaggeration
Although it may not resemble us totally, it was a rather good and quick job done. You should see how the caricaturist used both his hands to draw the portrait, it was an amazing skill! This was paid for by the company for the "Deeparaya" celebration, no wonder the queue were never-ending until 3pm! Luckily my colleagues and I got there early and we were one of the first few who had our faces drawn.
Now, can you tell from the caricatures above, which is me? :P
We also have some good time munching on the kachang puteh and malay cakes. The buffet lunch (also free) was nice too!

Joyous Jumbo Meal
It is Mummy's birthday today, the celebration is on tonight at Jumbo Seafood restaurant! Wooho! :D Mum seems to like the place quite a lot, so we bought her back.
No brainer, we had a 8-course set dinner for 10 persons. Dinner's nice but we made a wrong choice ordering tomato crab. Should have been the signature chilli crab! The dessert was quite nice and unique - it's jelly with fruits and champagne. Cheers to Mummy's 60th birthday! :D
Seeing DC busy snapping pics, Ah Boy also wanted to join in the fun. I gave him my hp cam for him to take some photos. His first few shots were blurry but he slowly got the hang of it... :)
Here's the cheeky Boy (also the Bo-Geh cameraman) who just had his tooth pulled out today!
